Nice - There may be a subconscious connection there with Gomez from the Addam's Family, who wears a fez IIRC - in the video game at least you could get the fez to fly around like a helicopter.

i used to love the adam's familly as the weird little kid i was.
i always really like this image of the intelectual sitting down in a big chair to read a book. wearing a bathrobe and a fez. i loved it when ren did that, to pursue his "intelectual conquest" or something like that.

man, i need to get me a fez.

I considered affecting a sophisticated pipe at some point, but as much as pipe tobacco is delicious, having a pipe also kind of makes you look like a dick sometimes.

Personally, I enjoy clove cigarettes. The cloves are an anaesthetic, so you can't feel your lungs dying quite as hard. Also, at basically twice the nicotine and tar of regular cigarettes, you're guaranteed cancer or your money back.

It's a bit off-topic, but concerning the comic page, I created it but it's not a wecomic... I draw a page a month for a fan-based magasine around here. I like to think that it makes a couple of people smile once in a while... I was thinking of starting a thread asking about what you guys thought but didn't know if I was good enough to show it to the amazing pool of talent hanging around here without looking like a idiot... Embarrassed

Anyway, back to Fez! I like the name Gomez. How is the project going with the new animator?

i was asking him if he tought the 50-something days would be enough and he wasnt sure. then something like an hour later he sends me 3 animations. first passes, but still!

as for the rest, the game is currently in its cocoon, about to emerge all pretty and gorgeous.

soon, i will post a little teaser trailer and...
we'll....you'll just have to see.

still fucking around with art.
i felt that i didnt feel the sun enough in the previous passes.
the whole thing floating in the sky, you'd think you'd get a little bit of sunlight in there. i guess im moving away from the superflat 4-colors aesthetic that i started with but this is just so much richer. i think. if you look at the square stones and mostly the pillar, you can really feel the whole thing being bathed in sunlight. which i think, was missing from previous versions.

this is still a WIP but i need to hurry up and finalize all the tile sets soon.

comments are very much appreciated. but hurry up!

edit: the good old orange block havent really been retouched except for a higher contrast and brightness.

Those tiles are great. The shadowing makes it all have plenty of depth. Though I suspect the same can be accomplished with the 4 color restriction, at the expense of details.

Good job fish! Lookin' very good!

One thing tho... I don't feel like the big gray stones look far enough. I almost feel as they are at the same level as the other elemnts. I really feel the dpeth of the orange tiles at the bottom but the gray tiles don't work for me...

Looks Awesome. I love the new style of shading. I also noticed that the huge space between Mr. Gomez's eyes makes him look like a hammer head shark.

It's really beautiful.

Are the cloud shadows dynamic? I.e. do they move?

If so, you should make it so that the foreground and background blocks have a different 'depth' - so the cloud shadows crawl over them properly. When the shadow is superimposed over a background block, it should be displaced a few pixels left and a few pixels down. If the shadow isn't broken up by the foreground-background transitions, it looks flat.
