Just released Beta v2.0!

This update is mainly focusing on the krakens fight, the flooding system, new kinds of fish and gold which is a limited resource now.
Also 2 music tracks have been added, the one during the kraken fight is just awesome, very epic, I love it (done by Lapse: https://soundcloud.com/lapse)
Hope you'll enjoy it Smiley

@NachtkARTer: thanks for the support!

Wow, this is pretty fast update speed you have here!

Some words to Beta1: It feels much more complete than alpha, and really is much enjoyable. Sadly, for me it ended in the depth level around 400-450. I just had my first submarine when all the fun already was over. Was this just bad luck, or is this the current limit?

The last update I wanted to say there should be krakens in an next deeper floor.
In this update I was happy to read there would be exactly that! But - damn - the totally fucked me up xD
How is their arrival triggered? Because for me It was just in the beginning, when I just had the resources to build the first basics.
When I fled from them they killed me, so the resources which I probably needed to do the repairs on my base got lost.
Every try to get some new ones just made me die one more time.

Another thing I wanted to ask your permission: May I try to contact some german Let's Players to do a Let's Test of your game?
I think this may give you some new followers for sure if the do.

But first - have some nice and relaxing days on Christmas!

EDIT:
Okay, some more words about 2.0:
I managed to get some kraken killed with my harpoon, but I think they appear too early/ on too high levels.
On a run where I only focussed on gathering iron and built some harpoon cannons I think I already triggered a second attack ("they're coming again") without even having had the first appearance...
Maybe cannons would also be nice to be placed ON the base Wink
Kraken can damage Player when in base.
Workbench and Chests can not be used (and not even raided) when too much water in the base...
Something is there too overpowered - may it be the kraken or the flooding.

Thanks NachtkARTer for your feedback! I may consider to only be able to encounter krakens in the deppest levels. By the way, for the moment there are only 2 levels, but there will be at least another one, maybe 2 others, which are going to be really dark, with a strong abyssal feeling!
Of course you can talk about my game to youtubers, even though the game is not finished at all it would bring me a good visibility  Wink
I indeed had a relaxing Christmas, I did not have any internet connection which is why I only reply now  Smiley

I'm about to release FarSky Beta v2.1 today!

This update mainly focuses on the base design. It now has lighting, levels, and the look & feel of it has been modified to make it look nicer and more realistic.
Also the workshop table system has been improved and redesigned Smiley
I'm currently spending more time on furniture and stuffs around the base.

Wow, this is moving fast! How long had you been developing before you started the devlog in August?

I started developing around March/April 2013. It took me several months to build a stable 3d engine from scratch. I really wanted to make my own to be sure to understand everything and to control it perfectly  Smiley

I actually made a smaller project before called Overbind. It's free, I made it on my spare time just for fun. I also made the 3d engine, but this one was not very stable and may not work on every computer (here is the link: http://overbind.comoj.com/)

I'm about to release FarSky Beta v2.3 today!

This update mainly focuses on doors (which stop water flooding), barracudas, cookers and some other small features. Also, all your inventory is dropped on the floor when you die now.

PS: yes, I did not talk about v2.2, that is because it was a bug fixing update only, haha!

Yes, the krakens fight has been balanced, and they are only coming when you try to extract crystal. It feels way better now! Smiley

Even on the lowest settings, this game is practically a slideshow for me. Any idea of when you'll do some more optimization?

@Christian: If you put the render distance to tiny and it is still not smooth enough on your computer, I'm sorry but there won't be much I can do about it. Concerned Yet I put an option to get rid of the particle system on beta v2.2, but if you can't play the alpha I would avoid to buy the Beta. It may work better but it may be not enough.

I just released FarSky Beta v3.0 today!

Main features are: Adventurer & Survivor game modes, and day&night cycles.
The goal of the game is now to fix your submarine and reach the surface. I'll add the sandbox mode soon to mess around with no objective.
Take advantage of the day to explore and collect resources. At night, predators are more numerous and more aggressive!

Ps: thanks for your comments  Wink
