Hey folks!

I've been around here since the Blackeye Software days... only now becoming active.  I've been working on an expansive RPG for some years now.  It's set in an apocalyptic  proto-victorian city situated in a planar nexus--the ugly stepchild of Fallout and Planescape.  Wearing monocles.

I'm getting to the stage where I need something other than my horrifying programmer art.  Some placeholder sprites that are open-source and editable.  Any ideas?

Preferably isometric western-RPG style sprites, but any will do in a pinch.  Thanks!

find an artist, and work with them.  don't just ask a bunch of people that don't know you to give you stuff.  Wink

He's just asking for placeholder sprites - stuff that's already made, and will just be used until he gets an artist to do the final sprites, right?  I don't see what the problem is in asking for that kind of stuff.

You can use Free Art Search to search the media repositories of some open source games.

Side note: the thread title is ambiguous, I recommend you change it to "Looking for isometric placeholder sprites"

Side note: there are three minutes between your first two posts, I recommend the edit-technique for attaching post scriptum information.

PS: like this I mean

Oh wow, there is so much troll porn in there.

And sorry hairrorist, I only know of platform sprite templates that I found on the Game Maker Community long times ago.

Actually, this may or may not help you. There are a few isometric character templates on there. Not very "Western", though.

Markham: Exactly.  I've been looking for an artist for quite some time now, but I can't find one whose vision meshes correctly with the artistic direction I want to take the game.  I'm figuring that I may have more luck drumming up enthusiasm from a talent if I have something to show that actually -looks like a game- and not a first grade illustration.

Thanks for the help guys!  When I have something demonstrable, I'll be sure to post here and give you a heads up.
