Build v30 is up! Also, I've set up a devlog to track and explain new features: http://www.noctuelles.net/Hunting-Anubis-Devlog

Beta v30: Added new health indicators for both player and targets, ramped up camera shake and FoV at higher speeds and made enemy crafts more visible. Also included are new tower structures:

-> Towers :: Try shaking off enemies by flying through them at high speed. Landing on them gives you 360 vision of the battlefield (Hold Shift to glance around) while your radar signature is obscured by proximity to the ground. Buildings and terrain are transparent as the game environment is simply a 3D representation of your craft's sensor input and satellite data feeds.

Beta v31: Added a primary weapon heat gauge and an entire new energy system:

-> Energy :: All actions drain your aircraft's energy reserves, however the recharge rate exceeds basic flight actions, hence you need only worry about 'High Energy Actions'. These currently include: Afterburner (Holding W), Firing Main Guns (Left Click), Hacking (Right Click / Alt). Once you fully deplete a battery, it will be discarded and a backup will take its place. Only the currently active battery will be recharged! If you deplete your entire reserves your craft will shut down for 4 seconds.

Added a couple of new abilities to take advantage of the energy system:

Beta v33: Cloaking:

-> Cloaking:: This ability drastically reduces your visual and radar signatures but incurs moderate energy costs. To initialise, press C. Ceases on death or disablement.

Beta v32: Interdiction Spheres:

-> Interdiction Spheres:: These are a form of electromagnetic countermeasures designed to slow enemy projectiles, and are large enough to protect multiple aircraft. To initialise one, press F. Doing so will deplete an entire battery's worth of energy, and maintaining one will slowly sap remaining power reserves. Interdiction Spheres are destroyed on death or disablement.

Note: Bots are trained to use both of these, so watch out!

It's gorgeous, and even more when it moves. I am totally useless with piloting stuff, but the aesthetic is really attractive.

edit: 1 critic: I think the sound effects are disturbing and very aggressive (especially that loud kzzzt sound)

... but that is mostly psychological. Check my devlog!

Thanks!

This should hopefully clear stuff up as to the server system:

-> Hosting :: This is a multiplayer game, so you might need grab a few friends if you want to play and no one is in game. Alternatively you can simply play with bots (They spawn automatically on host).

The hosting system should work on almost all network setups and is extremely simple to use, simply click the host button and wait for players to turn up. If you wish to join a game, simply press connect. To see players currently connected, along with the leaderboard, press Tab.

Beta v35: Class Selection:

-> Class Selection:: After launch, the game will give you the option to choose your aircraft. The leftmost selects the 'Heavy Fighter' class, the center one, the 'Air Superiority' class and the rightmost selects the 'Electronic Warfare' class. After clicking the icon, the game will immediately begin, sending you into the current game, or hosting if no game is available.

-> Heavy Fighter:: This class has superb armor, but is the least maneuverable and most visible to radar. To make up for this, the Heavy Fighter has powerful engines and weaponry. Right Click fires dual-linked Homing Missiles at a locked enemy.

-> Air Superiority:: This class has high maneuverable, moderate speed, and formidable firepower, but lacks the Electronic Warfare and high stealth characteristics of lighter classes. Right Click fires Homing Missiles at a locked enemy.

-> Electronic Warfare:: This class is the best maneuverability and stealth characteristics, but is very vulnerable to enemy fire. Right Click activates its Electronic Warfare (Hacking) subsystems.

Beta v37: New map, major visual overhaul, speed fixes and assorted updates. Also, shared radar (Enemies picked up on allied radar is now visible to you), 40mm cannon for the Air Superiority class and Anubis' first actual gamemode:

-> Attrition:: The goal is to gain air superiority of the area simply by costing the enemy more aircraft than they are costing you. These two bars at the top of the HUD show remaining the remaining aircraft for each team, to the left is Team One (Grey), and right Team Two (White). You can press tab to see what team you are currently on. When the number of craft in flight equals the number of available aircraft, you will be unable to spawn until the end of the round. Note: team identification is in major flux right now, this system will be much improved.

I only had a little time to play with this so no useful feedback, other than to say I'll buy it just for the incredible aesthetic.  Amazing work!
