The gameplay kinda reminds me of the Megaman Zero games.
You have my attention.

the movement options are really cool. do you plan on integrating that w/ enemies that require Insane Combat Tactics or just platforming

Frog can currently jump, wall jump, and dash in eight directions. The enemies shown thus far are fairly simple, but I am currently working on a few that have more complex patterns that require you to swing at them from particular angles. Also, a few of our boss ideas require some interesting tactics combining the dashing mechanic and mid-air attacks.

I honestly liked all of the Rocket Knight titles as a kid, but it's been awhile and I'm not sure if they've aged well. But yeah, I'd say those would be included in my influences for this.

Oh yeah, good stuff. I remember really enjoying Sparkster but then getting it mixed up with Rocket Knight Adventures for the Genesis which was just god awful by comparison. They'd make you do these really boring shmup levels and the game as a whole wasn't nearly as good as Sparkster. Probably the biggest let down video game rental of my young adult life. I've got some serious nostalgia right now. I remember walking down the aisles of this small family owned video rental store that had little dog tags on hooks under the titles. You'd grab up a little tag and bring it to the counter. I don't know how many times I rented Jackal from that place. That was an awesome game too. Man, stuff sucked back then! You're trying to get a game that'll be your only entertainment for the whole weekend and you have no internet so there's only the box art and maybe a Nintendo Power review so getting something is pretty much a crap shoot. Sometimes you get something awesome like Sparkster and other times you're stuck with Rocket Knight Adventures... yall ever played strider 2. and sparkster. good games, imo. go dbless
