I might not have noticed it on my own, but Seren, thanks to you (well "no-thanks" is more accurate), I notice it now too; eww! (thankfully I'm lucky enough not to have seen the original, just numerous descriptions, which is bad enough I think)

Saw this thread yesterday and spent a fair bit of time trying to find it again on another computer today.... Anyway, this stuff look great - I want to try and make a simple shmup with some of these graphics. If it ever gets done (big if), I'll post here :-)
Thanks

Awesome thread, I think I'll try to contribute on the programming end.
My biggest limitation is my insistence to overdesign. I don't do a very good job of making up clever ideas for very simple games which could realistically get completed in the space of a few days. Usually it's a case of starting with a decent idea, but putting a bunch of requirements on it which complicate it in small but still significant ways. I would appreciate if people would throw in ideas / art for such a game.
I also try out lots of libraries / APIs and not enough time coding real games, and now I'm getting tempted to try out PyCap!
The shmup art looks cool. I might try making a game to test out a control style and format I have been thinking about. Hopefully I won't overdesign!

This thread is all kinds of awesome. I'll contribute some music and whatever as soon as my schedule clears up. (Which should be pretty soon!)

Oh, I completely forgot about this place. Here's some code I'm probably not going to use any time soon. It's a 2D to 1D raycaster that currently uses width to convey depth, but could probably be adapted to use 3D glasses or shading instead.

To let everyone know, I shall be using a great deal of the material posted in a slapdash game I must cobble together for a project (I just got a notice for it a few hours ago), but I suppose I'll post what original material I have made for it here in exchange. Feel free to use however you like. Proper credit will be given, of course. EDIT: And now that I just finished it, have a gentleman while you're at it.

This is a set of graphics I made for an IndieLib tutorial that comes with the SDK. I rendered them after playing... I'm sure you know which game of Oxeye Download the rar file with all the files (including ufo animations): http://gametuto.com/files/encounter_mockup.rarThey are 100% free. But please, put a backlink to http://gametuto.com if you use them.
