So even if you don't have video or a mic, you're well equipped to contribute. Chat/screenshare options are in the left side toolbar, and the chat box is hidden discreetly in the bottom right. Note that Hangout auto-mutes when you join if there are already more than 4 people in the chat, so you have to disable that if you wanna talk. Here are some SUPER UNOFFICIAL GROUND RULES: - MOSTLY we do work, art or game dev or whatever, and it's recommended you share your screen and be productive...
- but you are totally welcome to just come hang out and talk while you play games or relax or whatever. Game dev and art and programming are fucking lonely and it's great to be around like minded people.

original post: So google +'s only good feature is a multi (i think 10) user audio/video/screenshare conference platform -- Polycount people got into a habit of doing regularly scheduled g+ hangouts where people could chill and share their screens as they worked on art.
Is there any interest in something like this among the tigelligentsia? |

i think this is a good idea, but maybe it'd be fine if we just posted links to the hangouts in this thread whenever we felt like having one, instead of a date and time sort of deal
btw these can be super useful; just learned a bunch of tricks from catguy w/r/t layers in photoshop (you can increase the size of the thumbnail and set it so that it only draws exactly what's in that layer, instead of the whole image) and the lasso tool (ez way to paint skin)
then again there might be issues w/r/t too many people being in the chat at one time, or random assholes crashing the get-together like a vent channel, but we'll see (if we posted links here, that is)
nvm there's a 10 person limit

Sorry, that was me trying to join earlier. I've never done a google + hangout before, so I was having quite a few technical difficulties. I didn't know if my voice or any of my written chat messages got through, so I just wanted to apologize here if any of it was bothersome to those in there.
I had to install a new modem and router in 1 that Comcast sent me, and since then, my internet hasn't been as stable as it once was. I might try to join again today, but if that doesn't work out I might just wait until I can get a wired connection to my laptop.
