Cogmind's 11th annual review is available over on the main dev blog, summarizing a year of massive updates on both the interface and content side. We got larger fonts, map zooming, multiple UI layouts, a whole new faction and two new maps, with much more to come just around the corner.

Inside you'll also find some dev stats and a selection of community content from art to popular videos and streams.

The upcoming Beta 15 is already a significant update in its current state and shaping up to be a great release for players old and new alike!

Just can't stop. Even if I wanted to at this point, I'd have to at least finished the expansions I've promised, so more years it is! Could be done with that stuff within the next couple years though, then we'll just have to see... P

If it's viable for you, why ponder? It's a luxurious position to be in! I'm not sure if I envy you for it, though, or if I'd starve cerebrally if I wouldn't start over every few years. Both my game dev and my job.

Yep, tons of other ideas I've had, many of which would likely work out, including of course sequels, but it's also nice to be able to continue to expand an already large world and service existing players.

One significant advantage (from a certain angle) is that there is no boilerplate, it's all pure creation, compared to starting new projects where you have to do a lot of boring stuff again rather than just creating experiences. The latter is always what I've been more interested in anyway. Technical stuff is fun and all, but mostly a means to an end. (And within the world of my own game I've created many sub-games and alternative rulesets over the years, so that's a chance to get away from the core mechanics as well, both for myself and long-time players.)
