I agree otherwise but I'd add all the other 15 colossi to that list. They're all great 'levels' in gaming history!

All of Knee Deep In the Dead.

The third hub of HeXen and Darkmere on hub 2. I could easily say all of HeXen since it's consistently high quality stuff but the third hub in particular stands out over the rest to me since you have to fill in that neat star chart with jewels. Shiny things! You like shiny things, right? Oh and then there's the fight against the Heresiarch who I consider the best boss ever in a fantasy RPG.

But I consider Darkmere better. It's only a short level but after you've waded through that swamp full of amphibious monstrosities that like to jump out of the much right behind you you come across a derelict fortress that just appears out of the mist. It's incredibly foreboding the first time you see it and it really gets your mind going on what could be inside it.

God, that was a while ago... I still agree with most of what I said there, except for the Jak 3 one. I can't even remember what happened in that level now  WTF But I do think Jak had some great levels, such as the ice mountain in Jak 1:

And I don't really remember much about Oni Island now, either, so it can't be that good. My favourite level from Okami now would be Sei-an City.

Some excellent side quests there.

I love all the levels in La-Mulana, but my favourite so far is:

The Spring in the Sky. Perhaps because it's so intimidating when you first go there, but gets a lot friendlier once you can swim.

Grout's mansion from Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines.

Paris, from Sly 2. Guh, just looking at it makes me want to play the game again.

From Quake III:
Q3DM2 - House of Pain
Q3DM5 - The Forgotten Place
Q3TOURNEY4 - Vertical Vengeance
Q3TOURNEY2 - The Proving Grounds
Q3DM17 - The Longest Yard

I highly recommend Quake 3 to any developer interested in clean, arcade-style level design.

Chutup, Dark Maker Spaceship? That was one of the least endearing parts of the game! I mean, it was kind of cool, but a little repetitive. Now the Ex-Guard Robot Factory, that was cool.

Also, very yes on the Ice Level in Jak and Daxter. Almost made paying that much money for a 12 hour game worth it.

I'd like to second The Milkman Conspiracy, and also suggest Black Velevetopia.

Yeah, like I said, I don't remember why I said the Dark Maker Spaceship. If I had to pick a level from Jak 3 now, it would be the one with the explosive mine cart and the targets you had to shoot to make it keep going. That was great.

Don't forget Lungfishopolis! Rampaging around as a giant in a city populated by fish.  Oh yeah. That was awesome.

I disagree with the piano.
Also, this fits the thread at the same time.

You're just swimming around, decide to check what's behind that underwater pipe thing and you stare right into the face of THIS.

(Too bad I can't find a screenshot from the perspective of within that tunnel when you first see him)

That level was awesome.
The game had lots of awesome levels.  Shocked

Also, speaking about Yoshi's Island:
The level with that thing.

Any of the "gimmick" levels in early Sonic - Spring Yard, Casino Night, Carnival Night. Also, Bridge Zone from Sonic 1 Game Gear.
