We're developing a game called Space Farmers!

Its a 3D cooperative action adventure game featuring two ordinary farmers that get beamed aboard an alien ship.

Now they must escape from their captors using every gadget, gizmo and gun they can get their hands on!

The game is all about cooperation and gadgets with some robot shooting thrown in for good measure. Gadgets include hover backpacks, laser cutters, gravity gloves and more!

We recently showed the game off at Nottingham's GameCity festival and had an absolutely amazing response to it. We took on some great suggestions and are now working towards a public alpha.

Space Farmers is set to be released on PC/Mac/Linux to start with, moving to consoles and micro-consoles afterwards.

The game has a great look.  I really like your use of co-op, having one guy fire away while the other scouts for hidden mines, etc.  Nice!  Does it require 2 players for all gameplay or can one of the two be manned by AI?

Hi ScaryRobotGames thank for the reply Smiley Currently it requires two players. We thought about working on an AI but we thought the time would be better spent on adding as many gadgets as possible to the game instead.

We are thinking about a special one player mode though where you need to rescue your friend, so these would be different levels/sections than the main game. And probably not something we'd have ready by launch...but still something we'd like to do Smiley

It will have Internet, Local LAN and split-screen though so you only need someone in one of those locations!

That makes sense.  The AI would be a serious challenge to get right. Best of luck with the release!

Absolutely, my feeling is that if you're going to have friendly AI then it has to be extremely good indeed or it's not worth adding at all.

Thought I'd just post some updates about Space Farmers.

1 - We're on Desura's Alpha Funding Scheme: http://www.desura.com/games/space-farmers
This has been great to get some initial feedback on the game so far and the update mechanism has worked very well for us. It's available in both free and paid-for flavors...

2 - Looking for members for our Steam group: http://steamcommunity.com/groups/spacefarmers
If anyone has any ideas for places to post about this on the outside web we'd appreciate the feedback.

3 - Updates continue!
We've added quite a bit to the game recently, such as new enemies and npcs and gadgets and levels and...well, someone did a video. Check it out:
