This looks amazing. Good job!

Thank you Smiley

Love the look!! The new background and fog especially. Not as sure about the new trees... they might be a little too funky for my tastes.
Thank's for the feedback, I plan to have different themed environments for the future

Big fan of those mountains in the back, getting a yoshis island vibe from the new art.
Sweet thanks, yea I really want this game to have good vibes!

Gum ball trees. Just sayin'.

Is that a thing?

I like the new look a lot!

Keep doing great stuff  Hand Thumbs Up Right

Thanks!

Thanks for the updates, this devlog is really interesting. I can't wait to see where this is going. Mode7 ftw! :D

Thank you I also can't wait :D

Thanks and wow! I wish I had a science class like that

So I added a bunch of stuff, the most obvious is the little fire demons. They are basically as smart as your average enemy from doom. Randomly walk around, chase you for a bit, shoot, repeat.

That effect looks great. Are you using a shader to achieve that?

I think it'd be even cooler if you had some smaller ripples follow the main one, maybe with bits of ground flying up.

Thanks, I can't use shaders with gm7 at least to my knowledge. Yea I'll probably play around with it more.

I love the look of this!
Thank you!

Here's my first video with sound. What do you guys think of the music? I made it myself  Embarrassed

Sorry for the bad quality, I have to figure out better ways of encoding this stuff and find a screen capturing program that has sound...

How did you make that effect without using a shader?  Shocked

That's so awesome!

I dig the effect when the trees move from the impact.

The music is good too, not a masterpiece by any means but it makes me want to play the game Smiley

I'm only guessing here, but I think he used a surface, which lets you do all kinds of effects in Game Maker. It's like a custom texture of the screen that you can manipulate.

I really like the character design and the classic SNES feel!  The music isn't bad at all, by the way Coffee

Those ripple effects are absolutely stunning. Will you be able to unlock new heads for your little guy?

Thank you, I just don't want it to be annoying. I will make more tracks so that its not the same one looping over and over.

Can you hear my thoughts? Who, Me?

Thank you, I was thinking about adding an item you get that makes your head large momentarily, so when you throw your head it makes an even bigger shockwave. But maybe I'll add other head types.

Some updates. I'm working on adding new enemy types for more challenging play. Also I changed the trees again, I swear this is the last time, maybe. But I am saving the pineberries for something even bigger I have planned for Fire Fight later.

You are making this in Gamemaker?! Not sure how I glazed over that fact. I am in awe. I mean I know how powerful it is but the way the view is slightly cylindrical makes me think you are some kind of wizard. If you did add some other heads apart from the larger one maybe you could perform combos. Say you had a freeze head then you could use a water one to wet enemies before freezing them. Could be used to take down larger groups of tough enemies or stall a boss etc.
