Hey thx guys.!

Exception- You just have to keep practicing. I have been making games for 25 years and i still produce a lot of crap. That is all part of learning which you should always be doing.  Beer!

Made me do a double take.  Remember the old game

...?

"Barbarian" was the first word that I heard through my PC speakers... awesome! None of the other games ever had speech in them.

This is looking great, congrats!

I love how you handle light & shadows with that pixelated art style.

So here is bathoryn at the end of the petrified forest, A forest that was burnt then turned to stone through a heart broken alchemists rage. Bathoryn has slain the stone tree elemental that guards the key to the Petriforest tower. Now he must face the tricks and puzzles that the love torn alchemist now lays before him.

and here is a gif time lapse of the creation of the screen, sorry it snowballs. but as that art goes on it just gets faster and more involved so i forget to capture.

i will give more of a break down of the process as a lot is skipped in the gif.
all these elements have been set up to be sprites in the game. just a way i like to build them.

Very nice!!  Thank you for sharing that!  I'm using XnView to step through the GIF frame by frame and I'm taking mental notes.   Smiley

*awesome piece of art*

wow, thanks, very insightful. love the way you let the light bleed.
on the topic of light, the tree and trunks in the middle seem to be missing a light source? i understand your purpose is to "fade" the background a bit, but it looks kinda *too* 2d ..surely a little bit moonlight and some shadow is in order here? Smiley
do you use a restricted color palette (looks kinda like 256)?  or do you just make it look like that?

Ooops. Embarrassed

Here is the version with that tree layer rendered a little better, could all use some more love tho.
As for the pallet atm I just created that way. I try not to use more than 6 colours for a gradient tho, to keep the look consistent.

thx
