1.3 is wonderful. The main gameplay loop is still very grindy, but lots of cool stuff and it finally feels like the game they advertised

Logic:

Rez fails at being a better rhythm synaesthetics than starfox snes and fortuna there is better executed than the entire ambition of any rez attempts, that' discounted titiana and the various sector then add venom then all other routes and they are still better individually than the entirety of rez. Also REZ don't have any freedom unlike no man's sky.

Rez is better than NMS because it's not front loaded with bullshit.

That's because rez is baby first step into this kind of stuff, when you are new to it it's a pinnacle, I was into that stuff and had a lot of hope, what I got is noob first synaesth, REZ is overhype, it's literally nothing.

I reinstalled it

Turns out:  It's still the same game that throws as many obstacles in your path for exploring as it can.

Also, little chests and stuff you find now have locks on them that require minerals unlock

I dont know if you're still willing to give this game a chance, but the cars of patch 1.2 are the solution to most of your exploration problems. They're fast, their energy drains slowly, they have a lot of inventory slots and their mining beam is faster than yours. The only downside to this is that you have to build their geobays in every planet that you want to explore.

They made it so opening chests costs resources; it's a dev attitude that is openly hostile to the players of an already tedious grind based game.  Having associated bypasses to get through some of the tedium by frontloading grinding isn't like, a solution to that

Only one type of chest requires resources and it's an uncommon one. But indeed it's a grinding game and I guess is kind of a particular taste. Some people find slow paced grinding games tedious and others don't.

I know this sounds like a crazy idea but what if these devs made a space sim engine and then for the actual game they thought they needed a way to pace the exploration and then they had no clue at all how game design works and just took "player psychology" advice from people making horrible facebook or mobile clicker games for housewives

The game doesn't cater to your taste, we understand that, don't make it so you are a paragon of game design and throw entire player base under the bus just because you are a special snowflakes. I mean I guess being a housewives is the worse thing to be according to you, GEEZUS.
