I've done my best! I know someone already tried to name their character "hello'); DROP TABLE Players;"...but I had already made sure that wouldn't do anything. Cool

Hmm...

EDIT: Cheater II ascended on 2008-11-30 18:12:23 as a level 40 Ascended Necromaster, having spent 156 energy.  Cool

Got it on my first run, was pretty easy. I like the concept, but the execution is sort of mediocre.

I like how the (single player) gameplay is directly related to the performance of previous players. That's an interesting concept I'd be curious to see applied in other types of single player games.

Maybe I'm not pushing the boundaries of game design, but I'm at least nudging them a little! Gentleman

I was wondering, do the items you choose have any effect?

No, it's just cosmetic. It's there to make each character a little more distinctive. "Oh, he's a level 3 guy." vs. "Oh, he's a level 3 guy with a bone staff and an obsidian scalpel!"

I thought I was doing awesome until I got killed by the head researcher Angry

The gameplay is great! I spent around 20 minutes waiting for other level 3 people to die so I could raise them  :D

edit: hutchUNO ascended on 2008-12-01 14:16:07 as a level 40 Ascended Necromaster, having spent 150 energy. Gentleman I think I took every one with a non standard name.

btw, it's possible to work out how much you need for the last boss by adding the levels of everyone in an ascended party

Heh, I ascended almost right after you as Ven, level 50 necromaster having spent 166 energy. You got several of my guys to help in your quest, though. Kalen was my personal best before my ascenscion, and it brightens my day that he made it.

This is a very good concept, as others have said, but the execution isn't too good. I won easily on my third run (I suicided on the first one by accident and died fighting Kereberos on the second one). I think the idea of raising other players could be used to great effect on a roguelike. Wink

I like the concept of raising previous players - it reminds me a lot of Deaths. It could be really great if the combat had a little more depth, though - right now, it's mostly an exercise in number-crunching.

mwahahahaha, this game is great fun, although after the first level it's pretty much a breeze.

I have some ideas for changing it, but I think modifying it at this point wouldn't really be "fair" in terms of the competition...(Not that I really expect to win or anything Tongue , but it's good to be as fair as possible, isn't it?)

I don't think it would be unfair. The voting hasn't even started yet.
