For the headlook I've actually taken the Unify script and made a couple of minor modifications to get it to behave just right. For instance, I've set it so that the character will always look at this invisible gameObject floating right in front of them unless they come within range of some object that's been marked as important. If this happens, the character will look toward that object until they are out of a certain radius. It's pretty simple actually. Just done with a sphere cast and some conditional statements.

Oh, and I just feel obligated to say that your stuff is awesome. It made me smile when I saw that you stopped by and enjoyed my stairs.  Smiley

I was going through a bit of an art block so I decided to crank up an ABBA album and start modeling this light house, which I think would fit nicely in a port town like Fay. It works a bit differently than your typical light house. At the top, a mound of burnables is piled in a basin and then set ablaze. Because the people of Fay lack the technological knowledge to create moving parts and mechanisms, the light simply escapes through four massive holes chiseled out of the top of the tower. The smoke created funneling out of another hole in the very top. There's still a lot of work to go, but I have a feeling it's going to turn out pretty rad.

Wow, man. I watched one of your Ardomanian videos. My knowledge of phonetics and languages doesn't go past my upbringing and mediocre high-school spanish, but I think this is really cool! I also love how excited you sound to be explaining everything! I'm actually really curious as to how you even started your journey into this.

Although it IS very early on in the game development, right now, I'm already getting a sense of grandeur. The artwork is stunning, and I absolutely love the portrait!

What is the end-goal for the player? Liberate their country? Explore the world outside and bring it back to their home town? Is it too early on to ask if this will be more explorative, compared to the player normally having to fight to succeed?

Gorgeous stuff, so far guys. I'm really excited to see how this world unfolds!

Also -- are you a linguist? Study any derivatives of? Or are you just a huge language buff?

To answer your first question, Ardomanian originated out of sheer bordom in my early high-school days. I sketched a lot in class and one day I just decided to whip up a language. It's come a long way since then, for instance, Ardomanian years ago was comprised of a purely phonetic alphabet, much like the Japanese hirigana and katakana alphabets. My symbols weren't too pretty at the time, so I decided to exchange them for a smaller alphabet more resemblant to that of English.

As for the end-goal, I don't want to spoil too much. I can say, however, that the gameplay will focus more on exploration as opposed to combat. I want the player to experience the story in full depth, but I also would like for them to relish in the world that's been created. Part of the reason I'm writing all of these languages is so that the player will that awesome kind of immersion.

Oh, and nope, not a linguist. I do love learning languages though!

I like the name of the same and the look you have going so far. Something about the animation for the main character doesn't feel quite right to me yet. Maybe if it were more raptor like? (The dinosaur). Anyways, I love the style of the character and the world. Keep up the great work.

They're supposed to be like wings evolved into hands, however, your question shows me that I need to convey that better. Thank you for contributing to my ongoing quest to become a better artist!  Grin Hand Thumbs Up Right

Yeah, my animations are a little rough. I'm working on that though! Hopefully we'll have some nice, professional-made animations soon enough. I'm stoked!

Update from the depths of wherever I was, I'm bringing Ardomanian lessons back, this time around with some groovy tunes set up by my friend Ernest Soler. As for other updates, things with the lighthouse are slowly coming together. I figure once that set piece is done I can start filling in the rest of the map blocking I've done with some actual environment assets. Pictures soon enough. Also, I've been thinking about putting together some code for a dialogue system, however, I'd like to know if there's already a readily available one out there. Anyone know anything good that they could recommend? Finally, I'm expecting some actual gameplay/ jumping around to be a thing by the end of this month. I've been working with a very talented animator lately and I'm just so excited to show what he's put together to you all.

Until then, you all have a good one. I know college is constantly putting me on hiatus, I've talked about it time and time again, though it does feel pretty good finally getting some things done.
