Just decide whether you want to be a Crip or a Blood before you come over. I've read about this! Crips are the guys without concussion grenade jumps, right?

I've been sitting here, trying to make a good case for New York City. And it's hard. The rent is out of control (I pay $1250/mo for what is essentially a large closet). The work mentality is "work for 20 hours, sleep for 4". There is no nature to speak of and the people are crazy.
Inexplicably though, I am completely in love with it. I travel a good deal (San Fran being incidentally the last place i visited) and I always look forward to coming back home. There is an atmosphere here of being at the center of the world, that no other city can match. The roaring, swirling universe rotates around you and there is so much going on at any moment that you find it impossible to ever be idle.
You have to work for it though, cause things are expensive. But then again, there are plenty of high-paying jobs around, especially these days, so really, i think it all balances out.

STOUT!
... is ridiculously overpriced here, but I still love it I only wish there was some sort of local game industry Closest we have are those Max Payne physics guys, Havok. If you fancy a change, you should think about Europe. There are loads of great places to live in this part of the world, and they're all fairly close together. I believe London's got quite a booming industry, for example.

Meh - you could charge whatever you like for alcohol in this country, and people would buy it anyway Ah, sorry, seem to have taken this off topic... You're thinking about San Francisco, then? Isn't there, like, a cataclysmic earthquake due any day?

I'm moving back to Philadelphia; last time I lived there my rent was $250, and the place I'm looking at now would be $225. It's got a rocking music scene, lots of young people, and it's not very far from New York if something cool is happening there. You don't need a car, since riding your bike across town is as fast as driving. Food is cheap there too, so you can survive on a little bit of work, leaving the rest of your time for creative pursuits.

People ride bikes here all the time! Think about how fast you'll go down the hills... and about the uphills... well, either you walk it or you can start building those calves of steel you've always wanted.

It isn't quite as bad when the climate is foggy and overcast most of the time.

you know where id just love to work? and ive been saying that for quite some time now. Double Fine.
i really want to work at double fine.
funny story, true story. the guy who lived in my flat before me, and from whom i got a lease transfer, used to work at double fine. worked on psychonauts. and eventually left to work at ubi montreal. and then left that to become a full time artist. he makes these crazy-awesome art-instalation video projection things.
anyway, always had a feeling id fit right in at double fine. and that feeling was partialy confirmed when paul (guy from previous story) invited me to a little art show he organised with some old buddies from double fine. namely scott campbell and Raz, from double fine's action comic fame. awesome artists both. so we all hung out in this old factory turned co-op art studio place called red bird. scott digged my chops, so we talked games and art and all that. mentioned id love to work at double fine, especially considering its in SF. said he'd put in a good word if i ever needed it. the guys were great. just my kind of people. funny, slightly weird and crazy creative.
so just now i sent a little email hello to double fine. now that ive got this idea in my head of moving to SF, it just seems perfect.
bit long, there.

Is it the same Scott Campbell I'm thinking of? The comic book artist?
Anyway, yes, you post was too long. I hate people who post more than 3 lines. They should be banned. Or worshipped, I never know how it works and I don't think it matters anymore. What am I talkin' about? I don't remember but this leads me to this point: will you still be part of the Kokoromi group after?
Feels to me that your mind is set. I just hope it works out for you! Later!
