Dev threads are cool. So I'm working on this not too big game. It will be a platformer. I love platformers. Difference between this and my other games is that I will work secure and make sure there aren't too many unsmoothened things in the game, and that everything does what it's supposed to do. Also: proper scaling Anyway, the game is about this little naked guy, and he breaks out of jail, with help of the zebra king. The zebra king however, betrays him, and you go on a journey for revenge and glorious richness and all the chicks you can get. SCREENS: ANIMATION:

I like the way you used outlines instead of having OCD tiles for all the possible kinds of edge shape. It looks really nice so far, it will be fun to read your updates!

Yeah outlines make everything so much easier. (: I only use tiles for decoration and filling now.

Make an object with loooooooow depth. in it's draw event: with Wall draw_sprite(sprWallOutline,-1,x,y) Walloutline is slightly bigger then wall sprite and has origin at 1,1

Ah... Yet my curiosity is not quenched! I noticed in another screen he has negative HP. I resume my intriguement. game's still lookin' awesome by the way. The color choice is especially cool.

I love the trails he leaves when he's fired out of the cannon. The circular effects look cool, too. I think the resolution makes things really interesting looking, and the HUD is charming in how simple and up-front it is with the information. If I offered some critique, I'd suggest making the lettering for "HP" in the hud a pixel less wide, like this (to avoid the 2x2 black clumps): Then again that's just a very minor gripe and probably varies between peoples' tastes. The game looks awesome! Will there be a demo or something prior to the complete release?

Looking good man, but one thing I kinda find, is that artistically, it's very much inside your comfort zone, and I know you have a really distinct style you like to work with, but even that's not being pushed to its full extent. You've got the simple style down, so I'd really like to see you do more with it, at least once you've got your game mechanics down.
Just food for thought sir.

Yeah this game is very simple but fun to work on. Progress is going good because of that actually. This looks very stylish, and I find your enthusiasm contagious. Looking at this thread is making me want to go create things. Mr. Trianglehead- a beautifully honest, yet positive post. Cheers!
