Bad Common Icons (BCI) is an iconset with a simple style which can be mimicked easily (basically made of simple shapes, black or dark outlines, no antialiasing and flat or simple gradients and sometimes a one-pixel highlight/shadow part). It contains common icons for GUI programs (such as open, save, save as, etc icons) which can be used for many kind of applications and other icons with more specific needs (such as a play/rewind icon, a box selection icon, an arrow for 'selection mode' in graphic editors -like an entity placement editor-, a cup for java code generation, an opened and closed eye for showing/hiding stuff, etc). Its made toward game/graphics tool creation (so you won't see -yet- a printer icon since its low priority for such tools but you'll see some icons i made for my 3D world CSG editor).

I made the iconset because up until now i was making tool-specific icons every time i made a tool. While this is sometimes fun, usually i just want the icons. Since i dislike my work to use an inconsistent look especially in icons, i made the style simple to create and mimic (i can't think an icon using this style to need more than ten minutes of work - in an extreme case).

The iconset is free to use and modify for any purpose. If you have some suggestions for icons or modifications, feel free to tell me :-)

I like the style you have. Been using things like famfamfam and stuff, but these are looking good. Or even better for what i'm doing.

GNOME uses Tango Icons i think (or a variation of them ... or something very similar). Although there is an older set, i think it doesn't cover all of modern GNOME's icons. Also both iconsets are much more detailed than mine :-P.
