Uncanny Valley is a survival horror indie game. We are tired of seeing action games marketed as survival horror, so we decided to make our own, true to the genre game. You play as Tom, a newly recruited security guard at a remote, closed down facility. There are only two people there, him and another security guard, sharing the shifts between night and day. Soon, our main character starts exploring the abandoned facility only to discover some very interesting things. The game will feature a huge facility with multiple floors and buildings, open for exploration. Your job is to collect as many information as you can and figure out what the heck was going on in there. But beware, there are things preying on you, and everything is not as it seems. The game will feature some sort of a consequence “system”. If you fail at something, the game will go on, but there will be harsh consequences for your character. Of course, there will be some sections where you will be able to die, but we decided to avoid that as much as possible because dying over and over again on a section will lead to frustration, and that’s not scary. We want the player to be actually scared to do things because they’ll know there will be worse consequences than just retrying the last 50 seconds until they get it right. Key features:- a huge, explorable facility with multiple floors and building
- intense moments of dread
- detailed backstory with rich characters
We're expecting to release the game later this year. Follow the game at:Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/uncannyvalleygameTwitter: https://twitter.com/TadejKupcicTumblr Blog: http://uncannyvalleygame.tumblr.com/Indie DB: http://www.indiedb.com/games/uncanny-valleyYou can download a playable version of it if you click the link below, but keep in mind, I only posted this because it's required. You can walk around the apartment complex, but the levels are VERY unfinished and don't yet have the final art. Known bugs:- if you press down, the crouch animation doesn't play because it's not done yet - the flashlight stays on if you sprint Move - Arrow Keys Enter Room - Up Flashlight - F Spring - Left Shift Download Link: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/9387796/uncannyvalley1.exeSome screenshots:

This game looks awesome. I'm really very interested in playing this. Seems like you're going more for an "experience" rather than a "game".

I'm trying to balance both, as both story and atmosphere/exploration are important to the game. It will be well paced, which means the first half will be focused on the story and will begin slowly, and the second half will be more survival horror and tense.

There's a movie by a guy, honestly I forget His name, but I think it is called "The Innkeepers". Its a really good exploration of just how far you can take the suspensful buildup. You might be interested in seeing how far the movie takes it. I kind of imagine your game being suspensful and creeping me the f out but I wouldnt want it to do a Doom 3 where the buildup was masterful but the game after the buildup sucked balls. I would love a game that was all buildup... sort of like what Penumbra tried to do.

I've seen it - believe me, I've seen almost every horror movie in existence, from crappy 80s slasher flicks to horrible stuff like Martyrs. Things work differently when you're making a game, but I'll do my best to please horror fans.

There we go, the last update before we release the trailer! We’ve been working hard on it for two weeks now and it’s finally (well, almost) done, so we’re releasing it next week! Yay! Anyway, here you can see the facility exterior, the grand, modern building it is. The game is set during winter, so you’re going to see some snow outside. And again, we can use any help we can get so please share our news to your friends and acquaintances. Thank you!

The fat security guard's torso bugs me in his animation. The left (near) side of it looks like it's swinging toward and away from the camera, but the right (far) side looks horizontally static, specifically his large boob. Don't know if you're still using the same animation a month later though. Good luck with the release. Looks good overall.

Thanks for the kind words!

I've heard a lot of good stuff about this, and skim reading this thread it looks like the stuff I heard is validated I'm definitely going to check this out properly when my own game developing activities are less busy.
