My brushes have officially overtaken me, I can no longer paint anything reasonable. Only these brushfests.

Uh, now I know why I didn't want to post here. This style is incredible! Your DeviantArt gallery is also great to see. I especially love the vibrant pieces like 1972 and aaaaaaaAAAAAAAAAAAAA. Damn, gotta register on TA to give some thumbs up there.

For some reason when i saw those concepts, they reminded me of digimon.

They're very digimon, I think.

Coloured and detail added. I'm pretty happy with it for now, but I really need to learn to paint without outlines at some point. We'll see.

Feedback appreciated.

Geti,
Are you using the pencil tool for your art? Try the paintbrush, it gets rid of the aliasing and the "MSPaint?" questions.
Vary the line width more - generally thinner on inner detail, small objects (or those of lower density, such as the hair and what I assume is a dust cloud), brigther areas; thicker on contours, bigger objects, shadows.
Other than that it's nice, keep'em coming.

I've been using the pencil to make myself stop over-sketching and as habit from my pixel art too. I'm using the GIMP at the moment for painting too, which has mostly crap default anti-aliasing and brush support imo.
I've got to set up my box that has windows and PS on it so I can get back to more paint-y stuff for some fun.

I should really just work in a higher resolution for images like that. I like working without AA for cartoon work because it means you can drop in colour with the paint bucket easily on your colour layer but at that size the outlines get a little.. huge.

tl;dr I don't care much about the aliasing but I'll keep the line width in mind.

I think it looks great, and the intentional aliasing is far better than the blurry nightmares that tend to dominate digital art forums.

I would definitely agree with biomechanic about varying line weights more.  I know it's something I'm guilty of not paying close enough attention to.

You can try reducing the opacity of your linework even further, and make a new layer on top of everything for some overpainting to help fight back against those black lines if you don't want them so prominent.

It's fun to see the progress you make on your graphics, keep it up!

@Scut: thank you kindly! I might try fading out the outlines even further at some point, sounds like it could be productive, or at least interesting.

@Manuel

Not my art but for the purpose of demonstration: reflections in water aren't shorter than the object.

@Geti Interesting fact, I'll fix that then. Thanks. Smiley

Edit: Done, also made the reflection more subtile.

I'd say that's too subtle :/ I couldn't see it on my monitor until I looked at it from a funny angle and even then it was so faint. Go look at some images of the sky reflected on the sea for reference, don't try to eyeball these things until you understand how they look in nature.

Sigh. I wish.
