Jared - I feel like the clouds are too detailed or the characters(?) in the foreground are under-detailed.  Cool piece though.

xyzzyismagic@ Really cool colors! I'm curious, did you draw it with colored pencils and then color it in photoshop?

ev149@ That was actually kind of the intention. I wanted the amorphous forms to feel surreal and separated from the background to better create a sense of depth. When it comes to detail, more realistic or heavily rendered objects fall into background, where the simpler shapes actually appear closer to the viewer; as you can probably see it was mostly an experiment with exaggerated depth, the grayscale of the characters becoming less saturated the farther they are.

Are you sure it isn't the other way around? Why would you be able to see more detail further away rather than close up?
