speed paint
Really great, but for that head angle she seems to have a bit too much face on the left.

Did a painting for me and my friend's dnd game.

If your DnD party actually looks that normal then you must be playing DnD wrong.

Me too. This rocks.

I've been living for a while in Accra, Ghana. People here are generally religious (which I am not) and today I was preached to extra much. When riding a taxi along the beach (the taxi driver had a bible the size of a shoe box in the car) I became interested in the relationship between this environment and the beliefs of the people living in it.

The artwork is beautiful, but I will say that upon looking at it, it doesn't really say "slow-paced" to me. I mean, hell, maybe that's what you are going for, but from a design perspective it seems to me that the slick, speedy-looking design of the ships could serve to be visually misleading if the game really is meant to be taken at a slower pace. Perhaps something a bit bulkier would do ya better? That being said, LOVE the palette.

Hello all, I'm new at this whole game development thing (though I've been pondering it and looking into it and studying it in some way, shape or form all my life) and my desire is to take character designs that I've created and written stories for and build a beat-em-up game (think Final Fight/Guardian Heroes/Code of Princess). Right now I'm trying to focus on building one level with one or two playable characters just to get things working.

The character designs are here http://dualmask.deviantart.com/gallery/43571633 and I'm working on building a sprite to try building a beat-em-up engine out of. I originally posted my work in the wrong forum, so I'm reposting here.

This is what I have so far:

(this one's unfinished but I'm working on adding shading, lighting, special effects and an energy beam to finish the combo off).

Feedback, crits and comments are welcome. My strength, such as it is, is in character design and I'm trying to get better at animation. Backgrounds are my weakness; I'm exploring various ideas for building them including using World Creator. I really just want to focus on building something playable, even if it doesn't look all that great right now.

Looks nice Smiley I would like to see a version without high heels. I think it would look more brute, more serious and would take some exploitative vibes away.

Thanks a lot. Smiley While I can appreciate that opinion, this character isn't the only female I'm working on. There are several archetypes covered...she just happens to be the "hot chick" of the game. One of them anyway...but definitely the only one with high heels.

When I first saw it, I also thought that high heels look somewhat wrong. Maybe its the leg size or the fact that they are working like normal feet.

Hmm. I'm not quite sure how to respond to that. While I'm certain the animation can be improved (and hopefully it will be if I haven't reached a plateau in my skills so soon), in general I'm happy with the heels on her armor...it wasn't part of my original design but I felt the need to add them as I was creating the sprite.

I suppose I could thin out her legs and make the heels move differently, but honestly, as long as the design and animation don't have any serious deal-breaker flaws, I don't want to redo all the animations for just minor tweaks. That's what I'm more concerned with, whether the character will, in general, be functional and enjoyable to play as.

Hopefully her feet will stay planted on the ground.
