On a side note, all of my games, DLCs and bundle are currently in the Steam Winter 2019 Sale, up to 80% off!

Hey guys Wink

I've been experimenting a bit with 3DCG software recently. So, here's an attempt to create semi-realistic renders of the mysterious girl and Kuroko from Light Fairytale.

Of course, I've been also working on Episode 2! Here's a couple screenshots.

Hey guys Smiley

I've been working on the 1st dungeon in Episode 2 which is now fully playable. Here's a couple screenshots and GIFs.

On a side note, I've started learning Unity working on the Light Fairytale series in March 2014... which was 6 years ago!

Since, I've released Episode 1 on 3 platforms and I'm close to release Episode 2! I've also released the arcade racer Super Night Riders.

Here's a look on the 2014 prototype running on the PlayStation Vita, and the same scene now on PC.

It's been a crazy ride for the amateur solo indie dev that I am, but I think it'll be totally worth it in the end. Thanks for sticking around Wink

Hi guys Wink

I've been working on the 1st summon in Episode 2: Dark Order.

I'm planning at least 3 summons for Episode 2.

Right now I think I'll do it as a pre-rendered video for the first part, then a bit of real-time FXs in the battle scene.

This could be done 100% in real-time graphically, but it would require a slow loading of the summon scene, especially on the current gen consoles and their super slow 2.5" HDD.

Hey guys Wink

Here's a new WIP gameplay video from Episode 2 showcasing a bit of dungeon exploration and battle in the Ice Lair - including the 1st summon.

Do you already have all the music you need?

I would love to write a tune for you!

@ternbasedcombat: Thanks! Sorry but I already have a composer on the project.

Still working on the Ice Lair in Episode 2. I've implemented the 1st half including a sub-boss battle...

... and I'm now working on the 2nd half.

I've also added Steam trading cards to Episode 1.

Are you doing all the asset-making, animations, and programming yourself? The overall quality of this work is astounding!  Addicted

This looks incredible, it's good that you're here Coffee
we have someone to talk to about cg questions

Will definitely be reading through your devlog more thoroughly.
My immediate critiques are on the sounds, more specifically the menu and enemy death sounds at the beginning of Episode 2's trailer.

If you could sharpen the menu sounds.. making them a bit more raw - not leaving far from the bare square or triangle waves, you would be right to my heart.
And the enemy death sound seems like it will get repetitive.
I would randomize the pitch and volume for every enemy, on top of creating multiple sounds for each death. This goes EXTREMELY WELL for the ear.

Keep it up.

@Sundrop: Yep, summons were one of my favorite thing in early FFs Wink

neko.works is just me (baka-neko), but I work with a few freelances for a few things, such as characters designs / portraits / 3D models, and music. I do most of the rest myself - including animation and programming. Full credits on the official website: neko.works/LF

@Suttebun: Thanks for your interest and audio tips!

I'm randomizing the spawn of the damage / death audio but yeah, adding a bit of pitch / volume randomization should help too. Thanks!

One more boss battle, the Elemental's watchdog.

I've also started implementing the battle with the Ice Elemental, but I don't think I should reveal it :3

I'm close to completing the Ice Lair, then I'll just have to implement a few more events and two thirds of Episode 2 would be playable.

I'm thinking to launch the Early Access on Steam with this content, probably within 2 months from now.

Hey guys Wink

Here's a quick throwback: The same scene from Light Fairytale in various development stages!

  • 2013 - Concept: Custom-made game engine running on Android, self-made assets.
I was more focused on making the engine than the actual game at this stage Cheesy

  • 2014 - Prototype: Unity 4 on PC, self-made assets.
I've actually started this thread at this stage!

  • 2020 - Current WIP: Unity 2019 on PC, commissioned assets.
This is from episode 2 which should release within 2 months.
    Wishlist on Steam: store.steampowered.com/app/1199760

Hey guys Wink

I've been focusing on Episode 2 since December 2019 and I'm now happy to announce that it's now playable from start to finish in term of exploration and events!

I'll be now working on the battle part. I already have preliminary work for the 5 boss battles but they're missing most special attacks. I've also implemented many normal battles but still lacking quite a few.

I still think I can release Episode 2 this year on Steam, in Early Access as I still need testers and feedback.

Here's a few recent work-in-progress screenshots. Any thoughts? Smiley
