Hello Mr. Programmer! Smiley

Congrats on starting the campaign, it looks really good and I liked the simplicity of the video a lot. One minor thing would be that you didn't get into much detail when it comes to stretch goals, although this is a great motivator to get people to back your campaign. I'd suggest you make a little graphic (with assets from the game), highlighting what you would do with the extra money, should you get it.

Wow, this GIF alone is enough to sell me on this game. Best of luck on the Kickstarter!

Thanks guys! We're a little overwhelmed here. Someone pledged 2000$, and now we're at 17% after only 24 hours!  Shocked

Thanks for the suggestion! I'm actually working on this right now! We've been featured in Gamestar, Germany's biggest Game Magazine, during an article about videogames set in WW1. So we're definitely gonna put a German translation as a stretch goal! (Although it'll sadly be a high one, since professional translations are expensive) We're gonna post it today, together with an update that we're developing for Linux and Mac too.

Thank you! ...Aw man, I should remake that .gif with the better graphics we have now.

Thank you! Appearing in the article about WW1 and games really has gotten my hopes up a bit that we can get a message out there.

Sadly we couldn't get our game on Greenlight yet, since it requires a working prototype now. The problem is that reducing our game to just the mechanics gives a very wrong impression to how the game will play out, so it requires quite a bit of content until we have something playable to show off without making everyone feel like we've tricked them.
I'm currently working on an article on that subject right now that I will probably put on IndieDB once it's done.

I wish I could help. I mean, I'm german and also translated a game before, but I wouldn't call myself a professional. Well, if you need my help, don't hesitate to ask. Smiley

Yeah I'm actually in the linguistically unfortunate position of being Swiss. And Swiss standard German is different from, well, standard German. So even though I would technically speak the language myself, it would sound strange and off and I wouldn't know when to use a ß. I'll try, for sure, but we definitely need a reserve in case we need a professional translation.

Are you going to try to make the language sound like from the beginning of the 20th century? German has been very different back then. I think that would be really cool, but also a much greater challenge.

Hi! This is Mel, the writer for the game. It seemed appropriate for me to jump in and answer this question:

Are you going to try to make the language sound like from the beginning of the 20th century? German has been very different back then. I think that would be really cool, but also a much greater challenge.

For the most part no, I won't be using early 20th century language, because old-fashioned language doesn't feel old-fashioned when people are using it. We aren't going to use contemporary slang, because that would be ridiculous, but we aren't going to be using a lot of old-fashioned language either, because we want the dialogue to feel natural and immersive, and seeing slang you don't understand is counter to that goal.

Thank you, everyone, for all your support and enthusiasm!

Dude, put the link to the Kickstarter on the first post! Took me a while to find it.

The game looks pretty good btw. Finally a world war game with a german as a main character. Smiley

The intentions are good and all, but making a game with 21 endings, and claims that you make, while paying salary for 2(3) people for 8k of kickstarted money is not realistic. Sorry to be of a hassle, but do you have any games shipped?

Good call! I hadn't thought of that! (though in retrospect it seems utterly obvious) I shall fix that.

This game is a work of passion; gamedev is a hobby, not a full-time job. If we wanted to actually work full-time on Fritz instead of having jobs, then I'd need over 30k dollars for myself alone, considering that I am Swiss and living costs are incredibly high here. We are amateurs, and if we weren't, we'd have to ask for a much higher amount. We've been working on Fritz since December, and frankly, if it were about money we could have made more than we would, even with twice the kickstarter goal, simply working that much time in a fast food restaurant.

The kickstarter money allows us to reduce our working time to give us more time to work on the game and finish it within a more feasible time frame. Everything of the compensation money we can will be held back as a reserve if unexpected costs should pop up. The cost for starting a business and getting sound FX for the game would be too big a hurdle without the kickstarter.
It's a good point you bring up. Smiley We figured it would be clear from the calculations on the Kickstarter page, but maybe we should put a more explicit note in the FAQ, so there can't be any misunderstandings of how we plan to proceed.

Is this game cancelled? It looks awesome but there seems to be no progress at all... Or are you still working on it privately?
