I'm entering this 3DP thing for a laugh.

Generic Slash is a basic dungeon crawler. There are only two enemies and no bosses or win conditions.

Use the arrow keys to move and Z to attack.



Alpha 3 is here: http://www.derekyu.com/tigs/forums/haowan3dp-alpha3.rar (Thanks Derek!)

But the latest version of the game is attached - just overwrite the EXE. All that's changed is added critical hits.

You will need windows xp sp2 with Microsoft .net 2.0 framework installed. You will also need to install the SDL.NET framework. Sorry about the hassle! I have no idea about installers right now, and no time to learn Sad

Updated the build... bit more in there now including player death. no health items so don't get hit by the blobs! not that anyone's playing it I guess  Kiss

15 hours to go

oh, arrow keys and z to play. I also left the animation editor in this build by accident, switch to it with f1 if you want to see how AWFUL it is. My map editor is much nicer, need to convert this one over to the new UI and stuff.

Also, haowan, why don't you mail me the next few builds and I'll host them for you.  I really don't like going through that yourfilelink site. Sad

Probably could stand to move the exit to the far corner, as it's pretty easy to just waltz through atm.

Also, only being able to hit the monsters from the side is rather odd, considering that the game is essentially top view.

I dig the graphics!

The side-on thing - just a matter of time, really. I don't have enough to do the art right now, but if I find some later I'll put it in. Gotta get a meaningful game in there, stat!

Waltzing through is OK by me at the moment, it'll teach the player restraint :D it's a bit harsh right now, dungeon level 3 enemies kill a level 1 player in one stroke  Huh?

I'll update the OP with the new info.

Man! The sound is taking the longest time! And even then, it sounds terrible! Haha! Maybe I'm just tired. Well, I'm definitely tired. But maybe that's affecting my sounds!

I'll send a new build shortly. I need some "Ugh!" sound effects. Freesoundproject just crashed my firefox.

New build's up!

I made it to depth 100.  At Level 10, it takes like a hundred hits to kill one of the master goblins down there.  And when one hit me, it did 2332 damage. Shocked

Fun!  I still think it'd be better if the dungeon exit was randomized or something.

I think the sound effects work really well, too!

Easy enough to do - 6 hours to go. I'm not sure I'll be doing any more work on it though, for the contest at any rate.

It also really really needs a dungeon bottom and a boss. and enemies that use projectile weapons, and gore chunks and decals, and a good dose more humour making light of RPGs in general. rats at the start, for a start... and barrels.

And maybe a % chance for a critical hit to liven things up?
