So we're live on Kickstarter and on Steam Greenlight! Please consider voting for us on Greenlight and backing our Kickstarter! Sheltered is a micro-management game where you're set the task of keeping your family alive in the cut-throat, desolate expanse that is the post-apocalyptic era. A father, a mother, a daughter and a son. Given a head-start over the billions lost in the nuclear holocaust, you start in an almost impenetrable underground fortress designed to keep a family alive and well. But in this dark and unforgiving world there are innumerable dangers that threaten the life of your family. - Irradiated beasts of the nuclear wasteland.
- High radiation levels outside of the shelter.
- Finite food, water and oxygen.
- Necessary systems breaking down.
But the highest dangers of all are the dregs of the nuclear war. The rest of the human race that wander the wilderness, alone, cold, malnourished, and wanting nothing more than to share your well-prepared comforts. We're three guys doing all the work, and we're hoping to start a Kickstarter to get this thing distributed soon. Dean Foster: Lead programming/game design. Sonny Meek: Art/programming/game design. Ben Ridge: All audio aspects (SFX, Music). Now for some screens! repairing the power generator: A couple of survivors (there's a lot more, just wanted to show a small variety). Food supplies: The family.

This can turn into something amazing. The idea itself is great and can lead to some tense encounters based on decisions(there would be tough decisions to take...right???). Definitely keeping an eye on this. However are you aware that another game(although very different from this) by the same name exists?

I know they're not the same, but I was just thinking about The Book of Eli this morning and the implications it could have as a game. This looks very cool.

Definitely keeping an eye on this. However are you aware that another game(although very different from this) by the same name exists? You've got exactly the right idea. Survivors are going to do everything they can to get into your bunker, and you've got to make decisions on if you want to let them in or not. A scenario would be a mother and baby (much like one of the sprites in the post). Name has been swiftly changed after we panicked and realised that yeah, there's actually one or two other games with the same name. Thanks for the heads up. More updates coming shortly!

Thought that film was really cool. Especially the fight with the gangers under the bridge.

Love the premise and the focus on keeping the family alive. Will there also be unique events and everyday-decisions like 'Little Tommy wants some extra food, does he get it?' or 'Some food is missing, what happened to it? Has it been stolen?'

This looks like it has some amazing potential. It's kind of sick... but I love the vomiting art haha.

So today we've been implementing the radiation levels for the shelter. We've got an airlock/cleaning system. Forget to close the airlock and well...radiation levels are going to shoot up pretty quickly. Also don't forget to get your radiation suit on, or you're gonna have a bad time. Also implemented a cleaning system. Forget to decontaminate before you come back in, you're gonna have a bad time.

Armies of them. Literally. It's more likely that groups of ex-army types will hunt in packs and overwhelm the shelter, and carry better firepower.

Will there be ways to camouflage your shelter?

We're currently in talks about this. The biggest problem is that the output and input of the shelter needs vents on the surface (carbon dioxide, oxygen etc), so it's difficult to hide those. We are thinking of having some kind of hatch to hide the surface ladder at some point though. Possibly as upgrades that the player can unlock later on. I'm sure some pesky baddies will eventually find means of sabotaging your vents etc. Good question!

Added lighting. Has a nice flicker effect that I can't convey with an image unfortunately! Generator breakdown.
