Hmm. Maybe to camouflage, you have to turn off your vents (then cover them with something). So if you do happen to elude your opponent, you still suffer the chance of running out of oxygen after a time?

Good idea. The vents could be retractable, but obviously if you stay in that mode for more than a day or so, you'll suffer the consequences. Still better than trying to take on a full gang with little more than a shotgun.

You could also collect some twigs and branches from dead trees and camouflage your vent with them. Will you also be able to leave your place for a longer period of time to visit some ruins to find stuff that help you to survive?

For now it's a random encounter generation. You can send off the father or mother to wander and find supplies etc, but there's no guarantee they'll come back alive.

So are you playing as one family member or can you play as all of them? I like the idea to make it uncertain if the mother/father comes back alive, it adds more tension to events like this. I assume the whole game plays in the vault, then?

This looks great, very exciting. Have you considered making it impossible to see outside when the generator breaks down? Say for instance you added a camera or parascope that "allows" you to see the top half of the screen and when the generator is out or the camera is damaged you loss the ability to see? Just a thought.

Absolutely love this idea. Definitely going to consider implementing this!

I like to think of the play style as an ant farm. You're never specifically playing as a single family member, except in regards to combat. The combat system is going to be turn based. We really wanted to avoid sex stereotyping, so didn't want the father to be in charge of everything and being the only member of the family that actually makes decisions or controls situations. But yes, the mother and the father are really the two main members of the family. If the children are left alone, then things are going to go south very quickly. The vast majority of the game is played in the shelter, yes. But there will be opportunities to send out family members to scavenge supplies.

No plans for a demo as yet, but when we've got the Kickstarter launched there's definitely going to be opportunities for people to play alpha builds.

We implemented the dialogue system today for interaction with survivors from the surface. We also finished the video for our Kickstarter today, but we're a little lost as to how we're going to gain some attention so we actually reach our goal. Anyone have any tips or ideas?

Is she holding a baby? Would make the decision much more difficult. ^^
As for the KS campaign, you could search for Fallout communities (also on Reddit) and present the game there, as they have some similarities.

Thanks for the tip! We are considering getting involved in those communities as we speak. She is indeed holding a baby, which yes, is going to make the moral decision quite a tough one. Kickstarter is currently being reviewed, then we'll be launching! We've also set up a steam greenlight to launch at the same time.

Is the baby the 'food' she is willing to share? That would be the darkest thing ever...

Made me laugh... There could also be an option to just take the baby and leave the mother to die. Decisions! I'm following you on twitter now so that I can contribute by retweeting stuff. Good luck with the campaign!
