Hey Derek,

I really love this contest idea! I mean *really* love - but unfortunately I just can't take part with that closing date. How about extending it? Even by just a week? For me, it's the difference between entering and not having the time to enter...

This sounds fun!  I'll give it a shot perhaps (time permitting..).

I'll be throwing something together as well Grin

About the time limit... don't worry about creating a complex custom engine.  Reuse an old engine (preferably in a way it wasn't intended) or take 5 minutes to learn Gamemaker or something similar.  The hardest part about this competition will not be the technical aspects of the game, but making it terrible without being overly forced.  There is a fine line between a dumb game, and an awesome B-game.

Man, I wish I wasn't in the throes of learning how to develop or I would totally enter in a project...I can't wait to see what comes out of this:)

Oh, I am psyched for this. Here's a free idea I just had but don't want to use:

A Pac-Man esque maze game where for every dot Pac-Man eats, he then shits out another dot that you have to eat behind him. So you play forever, eating your own pixelized feces. Also maybe the ghosts can go through walls but they don't kill you.

The throes of learning are perfect breeding ground for B-games.  That isn't an excuse!  Participate! Tongue

Oh man, I'm excited. I need to go back and dust off some of my older game engines and make the game on top of those. :D

Freezer 2 is probably my closest to a B-game so far, but I'm thinking of changing it from murdering people to a complicated tale of love and adventure on the French Riviera (or a reasonable facsimile if I run out of pixels).

This competition sounds great but, alas, I won't because time isn't on my side these days... If anyone wants my help, I can see what I can do...

Later!

You don't need to.  This is a B-game competition, so using The Games Factory or something similar would probably be better than coding the game.

As I specialize in making crap games like this, I'll see if I can get in.  I have "obligations" to other projects that I may or may not be spending a lot of time on, but I'm pretty good at making ridiculously bad games.

No one should have any real excuse not to enter.  This is probably the only contest in which a game developed in a day (or three days, or week, or whatever amount of time you actually have) could be a frontrunner.  And what better time to try out a completely ridiculous gameplay mechanic that you've always wanted to implement.

It's a contest of weirdness and indie spirit, not game-making prowess... and that is why it will be fucking awesome.
