Added another hazard/enemy.

Does it fire when you're close enough or high enough?

It's both, it wont fire at you if you're really far away. and it has to "see" you. I've raised the reload time sense that was recorded, it doesn't fire two for every jump now.

Just bought GMstudio, runs way faster than GM8.0, but it'll take a couple days to port the old file.
Progress should speed up after I get this working.

MFW dozens of sound errors.

EDIT:
New To-Do list
Port over to GMstudio. (40%)
Make a proper player death animation. (Done!)
Add 5-10 enemies/hazards to fill the later areas. (Hard)
Finish the first boss, and add two more. (Hard)
Add some sort of cut-scenes at the beginning and end of the game. (50%)
Convince my brother to make a boss music track. (Medium)
Add NewGame+ mode with an extra player skin and harder difficulty. (Easy)
Polish. (Medium)
Convince people to host my game, hopefully GOG and Humble Store. (??)
Extra: Magically raise 100$ to put the game on greenlight. (??)

There's still a few error here and there, but I think the game is now fully moved over to GMstudio!

This looks pro and with tons of potential, I've never played this type of game so it will be my first one. Will report back once I get the hang of it and have absorbed enough to let you know what I think.

But ace work, the screenshots look awesome.

UPDATE: I FORGOT TO KEEP TRACK OF UPDATE NUMBERS

Sorry for the lack of real updates, school, a side project, and procrastination have caused me to not really be working on the game. That will soon be fixed however, with the current semester and the side project both coming to a close.

I feel bad about not having anything to show, so here's a cut-scene track Andrew made.

I'm trying, but working with a code base I've been working on for a year is pretty hard.
Whenever I boot up what I have so far I just feel upset at how slow it's running.
By no means is this project abandoned, but I feel the only way to keep from burning out is taking breaks.

This is looking lovely! The overall pacing of the game and level design doesn't come across in gifs, but it looks like it has the ingredients for a satisfying action adventure.

I'm not a fan of the angled screen shake in a low-res game but it's not a huge problem. I'd also change the "fade-out" effect with transparency on the hearts and "Game Saved" text to something more retro - even fading out in steps of 20% would be better. However, you're the designer and it's your decision of course Smiley

Take breaks when you need to! Good luck with it. I hope you pick it up again when you're ready.

Hey dude, game looks great! I like the lo-fi artstyle.

If you need the $100, I might be able to give to you. I'm a decently young gamedev as well, and I love seeing other people around my age getting involved in the indiedev scene.

Thank you all for your kind words, the motivation of knowing that people like what I make is huge.
I'll try and wrap up planet toad pretty quickly, then back to working on this.

you're still not very good at being a troll.
neither are you, I had a inking you were sane, step up your game or we might not think you're crazy.
