What are you developing this in? Can it handle openGL shaders (GLSL)?

I'm using GM8.0. the effect is done by drawing an overlay and changing the blend mode. I have never looked into GLSL shaders, so I don't know.

Here's how game maker studio can do them. I guess you aren't using that though?

I dunno, I've always made my games in C# with XNA or Unity *shrug*.

Yeah, I don't think anything before studio has full/real shader support.

Looks good without a shader, but it's possible to make a much better CRT shader.

If you want I can send you a lower-def version.  Wink

Thanks to translocator, I think this effect looks a lot nicer.  Well, hello there!

UPDTATE 3: Broken Promises of New Fetures

----------------------

Just like last week, I didn't make too much progress on new eniemes...

BUT!!!

I did update a BUNCH of technical stuff, changed the way the beam gun works, added EXPLOSIONS, made at least one new enemy, and made a really cool retro TV filter.

And I figured out how to record GIFs. Have a couple. (All gifs will also be added to the first page.)

Fully upgraded weapons

Defeating a sentinel barge

Unlocking a door

Mr. Snail's nasty habbit...

Alas, as my PC is a 2005/6 dinosaur, the GIFs aren't in the 60fps that the game is.
To get around this, i'll probably just release a tech demo soon.
Also, i'm no longer setting goals for each update, not because I can't reach them, but everything I plan just feels chains on my workflow.

Yeah, I'm going to have to agree. Screen shake is good in small doses, but you seem to be over-using it, unfortunately.

The game's looking great so far, can't wait to play it! I agree that the screen-shake should be tuned down a bit. Loving the graphics from it, can't wait to get a feel on it, keep up the good work.

I don't think it's the amount of screen shake that is bothering you guys, it's the fact that it tilts when it shakes.

Yeah, it's just messing with the view angle, it's not actually shaking. Nevertheless, the I's have it, and I will make it less visible.

You're completely right, it's the tilt.

I'm a big fan of the color palette by the way. Wish I knew how anything about color palettes and composition.

I'm really not feeling the name. I don't think it works, and every time someone asks me what i'm working on, I feel embarrassed from the weirdness of the name. I would like to change it... again. I would just do it on my own, but you all give really good feedback.  Hand Thumbs Up Left Grin Hand Thumbs Up Right

I was thinking of "Ruins of the Old Earth", but it feels a tad long. Anything you can think of is appreciated, but please try and keep it English.

It's in between alpha and beta, almost everything is in the game, I just need more enemies and a couple bosses. After that, level design.

This looks brilliantly responsive. That initial .gif of the door coming down with the particle effects is wonderful.
