Petrichor is the pleasant smell of rain on dry ground. Petrichor is a Point n Click Platformer. You wander the forest, breath in the damp air. Eternal rain leaving puddles. You light a fire under a ledge to say warm. In your pocket is a damp note you found in the mud. "Remember The Sound Of Now - ∆"You tightly grip the handle of your umbrella as you toss the note into the fire. It turns to ash and it's fragment rise into the air. The path calls you back. Looks cute. Reminds me of Another World. I'm glad that people are still making point and click games. Think there are new mechanics that can be introduced (I'm working on a kind of hybrid 3D adventure / point and click game).
Looking forward to more info...

Basic movement test. Left clicking to the left or right of the player will make her walk to that position (if there's nothing in the way), while double clicking will make her run. In this gif, right clicking is used to toggle the umbrella.

Collisions of sorts (can't walk off ledges) and fire lighting! The first of many actions to come.

Oh man, thanks! Another World is pretty great atheistically! Point and Clicks have been my favorite type of game since I was a kid. We are trying to go for a non-traditional approach or point and clicks with Petrichor. Glad to hear someone else out there is doing these types of games as well!

I love that she just nonchalantly pulls fire out of her pocket and throws it. This game looks super great, by the way.

We have been hard at work! A gif showing a bunch of different interactions, including: - walking
- fire lighting
- sitting
- standing
- wall climbing
- running
- jumping over gaps
- umbrella opening/closing
- hopping down from walls

Thank you! I've always liked the idea of casual magic, as opposed to flashy spell casts and yelling

You can use your magic umbrella to pull various things down from above!

Loving the art style of this! Controls seem very clean as well.
The motion blur on the umbrella spin feels a little bit less readable, though!

Thanks! Yeah it's kind of a weird experiment to have a control scheme like this, hope it works out. Yeah I am also uneasy about the umbrella blur. I am looking for ways to emphasize "mundane" actions as to make them seem magic. We are fascinated by the idea that something as normal as walking or even using your umbrella as a hook could be qualified as a sort of " casual magic."

I'm still unhappy with the motion blur you have going in general. Everything else is looking good though. <3

Currently it's just a rough proof of concept effect. I am considering making the blur fade faster and occur at different intervals and remove it from movement modes. That, or remove it altogether. Thanks for the feedback!

The player starts under a rocky outcropping, warming her hands by the fire. Reluctantly, she steps into the wilderness, with nothing but a red umbrella to protect her from the rain.

Movement abilitiesOur player starts with the ability to walk and toggle the umbrella. To traverse the terrain ahead, she must collect a wet note and bring it back to a campfire. She sits down to dry the note and read it, learning a new movement ability. With each new ability, more of the world is opened up for exploration.
