Tried a few different approaches and this is what looked best. In the final version there will be variation in the 'clouds' and I also need to test a fog in-between the pillars in the back. Click for full res.

A note on Overscore ( ¯ ). I use this symbol a lot. Its super-useful as you can see in the above animation. Purists would say something like "then this is not ascii". Well, perhaps not. I'll call it Ascii+

I think part of the appeal of this project is that we naturally reduce reality to symbols, crunching everything into as small a representation as we can while retaining the significance.
