Battlestation – Humanity’s last hope is a real-time sci-fi strategy tower defense game, inspired by Babylon 5 and FTL. Set in a universe, where 3 other species and an unknown threat are nearby, you are in command of the only defense humans have left. Take command of the Battlestation, customize and build your own weapons and fleet, and make diplomacy with other species. Your every decision will culminate into one epic last battle, where based on your decisions you might be fighting the unknown threat alone or with allies.

The Battlestation universe

Remember the great TV series Babylon 5, where humanity’s last best hope for peace was a big space ship filled with different races? Something that made Babylon 5 so good was the epic plot, and this is something we are focusing on heavily. A graphic sci-fi novel will be written of Battlestation, and the diplomatic encounters will be based on material from the book. Every race has their own unique history and character, defined by the graphic novel. It is not necessary to read the novel to be able to play the game, but it will help in diplomatic encounters since you will have a better understanding of where every race comes from.

The Battlestation universe concists of 5 races in total, of which humans (The Player) is one. Besides humans Battlestation features following races: Celestials, Space Trolls, Cosmic Sirens and The Unknown Threat.

The battle plan

How it all started
The whole idea for Battlestation started from our mobile mini game with the same name. We noticed it gathered some positive feedback from our players, and they were pointing out many great things about how the game could be developed further. Well this got us thinking that we should make a PC game of Battlestation, filled with a bunch of new features and better graphics.

Developing mini game and PC game side by side
Right now we are developing a new mini game and the PC game side by side. The mini game will work as a test platform to test out new features. The first mini game is completed and you can play it on our web site: http://battlestation.fi. The second mini game is in the works and will be completed in 2 months time. We are also planning on releasing the first trailer for the PC game in the same time span.

The graphic sci-fi novel for Battlestation
In our minds, a Babylon 5 inspired game needs a good plot and book to complement the game. This is why our author is working on writing a background story book for Battlestation. In it we will explain how each and one of the races came to be, and how the whole Battlestation universe fits together.

You can read the first material we have published from the book here: http://battlestation.fi/forums/topic/space-sirens-the-beginning/

And so it begins...

Thank you very much for the encouraging words bombjack! They mean a lot to us, it's so nice to see that
someone likes our creation. We are working hard on the first trailer for the game, and here is a teaser screenshot for you guys! The plan is to make a trailer that resembles Babylon 5:s intro, with good background music and of course proper voice acting. Battlestation, humanity's last best hope. Period Smiley

Be sure to register at http://battlestation.fi/ to see the trailer immediately once it's out!

Our second mini game called Battlestation - First encounters is coming along nicely. This mini game will work as a prequel to the PC game, and it will introduce you to the different races. This is the time humans were colonizing new planets and managed to spread before everything started going wrong. Your mission will be to fight for new territory in the mini game. Below is a screenshot from one new feature, the boarding of other ships:

We have added Battlestation to the Steam Greenlight Concepts section. It's not greenlight per se, just a concepts section that Steam also has. Go check out the material we have there, put a thumbs up and favorite if you like it!
