Ooh, Legend of Mana.
Yoko Shimomura is one o' my favorite video game composers, and the music in Legend of Mana was just grand.

My name is Nobuo Uematsu, I am the lord and ruler of this thread. I know it's a huge cliché start kissing Nobuo's ass right away in these sort of discussions, but damn he really is *that* good. Also, I'm not sure if a lot of people listened to it but FFX's Piano Collections is definitely my favorite (I'm not even sure if it was Uematsu that produced this album)

Jet Set Radio and Katamari Damacy are my favourites, off the top of my head. Funny thing is that I've played neither of these games.

I find the Bonesaw soundtrack by Josh Whelchel exceptionally catchy (and a friend of mine has put my favorite song of it to good use in the 2nd half of his cool
) And from what I've heard Josh's The Spirit Engine 2 soundtrack is great as well. Some songs of that can be heard here and here. I guess as soon as I get around to buying TSE2 I'm most definitely going to get the OST as well Aquaria is also a clear choice of course, can't wait for the OST CD release Immortal Defense, yeah, it's quite unique and great at that. Another one I really hope for is an OST of World of Goo. Each piece is pretty short and looped, but it's still wonderful and suits the game perfectly. If there's going to be an elaborate OST of that, I won't be thinking twice about buying it I know this isn't exclusively about indie games, but those are the ones which came to my mind first. It probably wasn't even until Aquaria that I actually started actively listening to the music in games and movies. It's just so easy to only subconciously hear the music and then a moment later completely forget about it. It will still add to the experience, but you won't be able to really appreciate it at all.

As a wanna-be game composer myself, I have listened to way way way too much game music- All hail the mighty Noriyuki Iwadare! Oh and, Motoi Sakuraba. Noriyuki Iwadare VS Nobou Uematsu. MUSIC BATTLE. ROUND 1. Fight! Final fantasy 6 soundtrack wins...though :/ -Battle theme. -Boss theme. -Chocobo music and Kefka's theme god I love shadow's theme with the jaw harp. Also big yellow ridable bird music, no one brings giant yellow bird music like Nobou. Maybe the giant ridable rabbit music from Star ocean 2 by Motoi comes close. Why the hell I'm I addicted to the first battle theme from Arc the Lad 3? Langrisser has nice battle musex. Legend of dragoon? -All the battle music, world map music, some of the area musics like the upside-down floaty area. Why the hell doesn't sony make a playstation 3 sequel? They own it. Then again, they do make terrible decisions..oh well. http://www.zophar.net/utilities/psf.htmlhttp://tzone.org/~llin/psf/

Joining in with the cliche of the Chrono Cross soundtrack. No matter what, except for the battle music, I love that whole thing.

Kumi Tanioka - FF Crystal Chronicles. Such a quality soundtrack, though I suspect it helps that me and two friends spent an awesome summer playing through it, so many good memories.

Yes, yes, yes, a million times yes! My favorite video game soundtrack. I used to have the Japanese soundtrack on disc but that is now lost to the ages.

I love most of the music in the game! And Kneecaps, most of the Megaman series' music is amazing, especially two, three, and 9!

The #1 videogame soundtrack of all time belongs to Katamari Damacy.
I really enjoy video game soundtracks, and I've listened to most that have been mentioned so far.
But really, when it comes to originality, replayability, and general awesomeness in every way, Katamari Damacy soundtrack FTW.
