I made a X-Com inspired Stargate fangame for the Jam :D - Space Gate Command! You manage the Space Gate Command base, buy soldiers and researchers, send them off world to fight the goa'uld and jaffa fighters, steal their technology, research it, then sell it for profit The off world part of the game is a simple tactical RPG style thing, though I didn't have time to add in special moves so it is just move and attack =P (with some extra equipment like medikits and shields being used automatically).

I've managed to finish something playable myself too! The game is called Node 54. I also wrote down some of my thoughts post-LD if anyone is interested.

What's with the #LD48 tag in the title? Can't I write in this thread if I do the jam? I always do the jam.

It's cause the twitter hashtag to discuss ludum dare used to be that. They changed it this ludum dare, I guess cause people in the jam were hurt. But hey, I'm gonna compete this time. I feel the spirit in me. Hopefully I make something good this time.

I see both that and #ld72 (and #ludumdare). What's the point of a hashtag on this forum, tho? My girlfriend, with whom I did last LD over Skype, stayed with me in my apartment up until last weekend and will be returning before the next, but won't be here during LD weekend so that we can jam our socks off. Typical. I think I'll just turn this into my own thing, as another learning experience, because I often try to learn a new tool or framework or just get better at something for each LD. This time the idea is to install Unreal and play with that, if my computer can handle it. If not, I might just bail out entirely this time. All the finalist themes are meh this time and if the joke theme wins I'm definitely not up for it this time. Joke themes were never funny.

Does the snowman theme look weird to anyone else? It makes it more difficult for people who are bad at art, I feel, because they can't do abstract art and game mechanics.

Again, joke themes have always sucked. This is no exception.

Hi everyone! another exciting and brilliant Ludum Dare, this is my 4th one, and since I'm expecting a baby in a couple of months, maybe the last one I've made Orion, a kind of pixel space sim :D It's web based, so very easy to try out. I love the comments people are giving, so emotional! http://ludumdare.com/compo/ludum-dare-31/?action=preview&uid=8733

Thanks guys! The response has been fantastic so far, and many people ask me to continue the game, but I'm not very sure about it.. I know finishing a game is a hard hard task, that requires time, health and money (things I do not have in abundance), and I don't wanna do it if I'm not gonna finish.. EDIT 12/16: I'm quite disappointed after knowing that the actual Orion's cockpit is not full of levers, buttons, knobs and switches, but a bunch of touch screens -_- If I wanted to continue the game, I'm not sure how.. Should I be faithful to the reality, or keep on with the initial idea? mm.. Ok, I've made a greenlight page for it: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=357103069
