Hello everyone

We would like to present here our new project- which will probably be totally new for all of you- a FREEWARE winter-melancholy-dark-horor adventure game called "Until I'm Gone"! UIG is under development of Faraway Studios(set in Czech republic) for almost 2 years now. Two years already we are hardworking to give you a special experience which you had never felt before and which you won't forget! We are really excited that we can after 2 years of development reveal the project to the majority of players!

Until I’m Gone is a FREEWARE 2.5D 3rd person point-and-click adventure game with horror elements and a psychological subtext. It takes place in a small mountain village covered with snow at Christmas time. The main hero is forced by his lady-friend to visit Pitfall Mountains. Soon after he arrives, the village is cut off from the outside world due to a huge snowstorm, and Nathan, who forced to stay until the storm blows over, unwittingly starts to reveal the tiny secrets of this picturesque village...
More about the story can be found on our website.

There has been a lot of things happening around the project (not only) for the two last years and it is impossible to summarize the whole game or even the things it has gone through here in one short post. For better and comprehensive delineation please visit our website, where you can also find tons of things we had released, for example music, voice-acting examples, wallpapers, story infos, examples of translation and more.

Just the same, to tell more:

Sorry to ask this question, but how do you manage to give it for free? How will you buy your food?

That said, it's a pretty good thing to do, and the game looks really good!

hey, that guy stole Leon Kennedy's jacket!

those environments are gorgeous.
the old man has a lot of character in his face.

but i cant say that the idea of a cold-dark-winter-horor-depresive feeling is apealing to me since i actually have to go through 6 months of cold depresing winter each year.

A very promissing game! The graphics are very well done... The freeware idea puzzles me a bit... Why is such a good looking game like this, with hired pros, is being given away? Although I'm not complaining, I'm simply intrigued to know why you decided to make this move. I'm not going to say anything against generosity, that's for certain! Smiley

When will you have a playable demo for this and what will be the system requirements?

I did not do that character so I cannot say :-).

Thanks, we are trying to play with every character, with every scene as much as we can!

We all have different  yens, but believe me, what would I pay to swap living with you :-)! (love winter and things around) BTW where do you live anyway, Russia?

You can check the FAQ section on our website (its a subsection of "Projects" or scroll down a little in news, you will find there answers to your questions.

Playable demo- One never knows... Wink

requirements- quite hard to say, we are trying to match something around 500 MHz, 128 MB RAM, and Geforce 2MX 400 32MB, but take the numbers "with a pinch of salt".

So others don't have to go through the hassle:
Quote
FAQ: Why is it going to be free?
The game is going to be free because at the beginning we didn’t intend to make a commercial product. We started making the game out of enthusiasm and love for games. Over time the quality of the game began to rise and several publishers contacted us. Once we had weighed all the pros and cons we decided to keep the game freeware. We knew what would get if we said *yes* to a publisher- stress, deadlines, necessity of arranging our time (school/work vs. the project), interventions from the publisher, uncertain earnings and fans unpleasantly surprised that the game is not free :-). This way we can make the game *quite* peacefully and right the way we want to.

Looks good, but I'm not much into horror games, personally Smiley.

I'm also a fan of ice and winter (though that's probably because I live in a tropical country where it never snows Tongue ) so I'm also a bit excited about the game. Also, I can imagine what it's like to prefer to make games for free. Not like I'm at the level of selling my stuff, since all of what I've done so far was too crude to be released even as free, but I can imagine having to try and rush a project through a deadline, having some of my own ideas for it be replaced by what the publisher thinks is best to make him some more bags of cash, etc. Especially if I was trying to make a game for the purpose of making something I find awesome, and not something to make money.

Wow, that game is looking sharp! It's got a great look and lots of polish -- I only hope the gameplay and story get the same love and care. I'd like the game to "chill" me to the bone.

But you may want to hurry, I saw in some other thread a guy who has the EXACT SAME IDEA!!

Seriously though, It's looking good.

Well we are still students so... But yes, some of us already work, for them, this project is a hobby. And yeah, sure the development it for this fact VERY difficult..

Dont worry with the story, it is even more important then the graphics! (for us) Really.
