Migni is a mix of platform, puzzle and action 2D game that will be released on PC, iOS and Android.

About us Gentleman

Hi! I'm Miquel and I'm working at Minduck Studios. We are a small video game studio from Barcelona, and Migni is our first game. We set up the studio just after we finished our Master’s Degree in Videogames, because our dream is to make awesome games!

Sinopsis

After the war between the cloudwalkers and the Flame Kingdom, Migni becomes the last of the flames and he has to survive to set the world on fire again. The cloudwalkers have invaded his world and they have a horrible plan: building a theme park!

Once the war is over, Migni wakes up with no memories about who he is or what is he doing there, so he has to rely on the strange creatures still hidden in the world. But he won’t be alone! Kelvin, a shameless wisp, will help him to recover the lands that the cloudwalkers have occupied because they also captured his friends!

Migni and Kelvin will have to use all their strength and wisdom, and cooperate together to kick the cloudwalkers out!

Characters

Migni is a little flame, cheerful but easily frightened. He is a little lost: he just woke up, he does not remember anything and he is totally out of place. His world is not as it was before: the cloudwalkers are building a theme park on it!

He doesn’t like what he is seeing, so he gathers courage and starts this adventure. He must face many threats while he avoids being burnt-out by the cloudwalkers. To restore his land he should look for the ancient ovens of his world and light them on while he activates traps and enchants objects. Luckily, he won’t be alone in this quest…

Kelvin is a naughty and shameless wisp of the Fatuous species. He loves to give his opinion about everything, so he is always getting into trouble.

He found a hideout during the battle so the cloudwalkers didn’t notice him, but his friends were not as lucky as him and they were all captured. Kelvin has to rescue them, but he needs some help! He is not powerful enough to face the cloudwalkers and they scare him off, so he must find someone to do his dirty work, and Migni is the only one around!

We need to improve the game! Any kind of feedback will be appreciated. Thanks for your help!!

This is gorgeous and great. The level design seems advanced already. Somehow I don't know why but the overall artistic direction reminds me a bit of GrimGrimoire and Odin Sphere.... or is it just me?

Thanks for your replies! We are very happy that you like it! Our artist is working hard to make everything look good.

I wish we could be as good as Odin Sphere! The visuals for that game were awesome. The new Rayman games are one of our references, so if you get a Rayman Origins vibe, then we are going to the right direction!

All the art is still WIP. We are polishing some aspects of the art, so all the feedback we can get, the best.

A quick update with some of the mechanics of the game:

- Kelvin Cut: Kelvin, Migni's sidekick, can cut some of the elements of the scenario, cleaning the obstacles for Migni so he can pass through them. The player can cut things with a click and drag.

- Kelvin Path: The same trail that lets Kelvin cut things also serves for Migni to walk on it. This way, he can pass across obstacles that he cannot jump.

- Migni's hideout: When the cloudwalkers are around, Migni must be very cautious and avoid to be seen. If they see him, he won't have much time to escape from their bubble pistols! Luckyly there are some elements in the scenario to hide, such as the mask statues of his ancestors. If he's hidden, the cloudwalkers will ignore him and he will be able to escape.

- The Golem!: This is the most powerful weapon Migni has! Every world has his own kind of golem. When he's inside one of them, he gains new powers which vary depending on the golem.

We are still testing and tweaking these mechanics and making new puzzles with them. What do you think? Would you add a new mechanic or modify one of them?

Great looking project  Beer!

Nice art and interesting mechanics. I really liked the golem, it must feel awesome to smash things up using one of those!

New update! Migni goes on the offensive Angry If he approaches an enemy silently now he can stun him! If he fails, the cloudwalkers will catch him and his adventure will end.

New update!

A month ago we showed our prototype at the Fun & Serious Game Festival and was very well received!

Now we are working with all the feedback we received and improving the mechanics. We are also searching for a new mechanic that could differentiate our game a little more from other platformers. Two possibilities we thought that could work:

- Make a health bar that decreases slowly when you move or make an action that uses Migni's powers. If our protagonist is a flame, shouldn't he fade with time? This won't be active when Migni is in a puzzle zone.
- At the beginning of every stage, you will have to choose only one or two of the abilities for Kelvin (the red little flame). Depending of the ability selected, you will have to solve the puzzles and interact with the level in a different way. Maybe you won't be able to enter a secret zone if you don't have the appropiate ability!

What do you think of these two options?

Wow this is super impressive, don't know how I didn't spot this devlog before. Great Rayman style visuals too

As he'd a flame you could do some interesting lighting or shadow mechanics in dark areas, using his light to guide the way or solve a puzzle. If he's low on light, you can't solve the puzzle

Or even text on a wall that only glows when he's near and over a certain level of brightness

Thanks for your feedback!

For the firsts prototypes we started doing some mechanics with the lightning but they didn't work as we wanted or weren't fun at all. However, your idea is very interesting! We could remake the ideas we had at first and with this new point of view try to make fun puzzles with them.

We are designing new types of cloudwalkers, the main enemies of Migni. Here are some concepts of the "dwarf" ones!
