I thought of an idea for another support character- Owl (Owl Country)- flies into the air, then swoops down for the kill.

Well, there are other items in Rescue: The Beagles. We should probably let the Owl reference Owl Country.
Man. We should really try to reference GINORMO SWORD somewhere in this game.

Rescue Owl is probably the more unique item, so I'd go with that.
The revised move list gives us some more options for support characters: Balrog (Cave Story)- Just charges back and forth. He's big, though, and hard to avoid.
Curly (Cave Story)- Moves with the character that summoned her. She faces the other direction, periodically shooting her Nemesis.
Shotgun Ninja- Jumps around, tossing grenades in all directions.

-Support Characters: Summons an indie character that executes a few attacks, and then disappears. Normally, support characters can't be attacked. I think this would be more interesting as a thrown item (like a pokeball) than a single use item (like an assist trophy). I'm not sure what this item should be, though. A CD? A crate with the TIGS logo? A crystal?
How about the TIGSource Joystick!?

Possibilities: -As a support character: After a slight delay, the pink ninja plummets from the top of the screen with his ridiculously gigantic sword, repeeatedly damaging any players in range other than its user and covering the entire surface area of where he was summoned (essentially the same as Snorlax as a support character from Smash Bros).

I'm thinking it should be the TIGBox (a crate with the TIGS joystick logo).

Haha, that's great. :D We could also have a "magic" item, which would be a one-use item that shoots flashing fireballs in three directions.

If we change it to delay (from "slight delay") would it be possible to make the sword affected by what the user did during the delay? For example, it's length is determined by the damage the user did to others during the delay, and it's width by, uh...

I could see this working, but it wouldn't really be in the spirit of GINORMO SWORD, which emphasized button mashing/clicking, however you played it (even upgrading gave you carpal tunnel). If we were to implement this, I'd say just make the sword bigger the more times the summoner button mashes or taps a certain button during the delay.

I added a few items to my original post, and removed a few support characters. We don't want too many support characters, because the work required for them has diminishing returns.
For reference, I removed these support characters: Ogmo (Jumper) Maeldun (A Tale of Two Kindoms)- Walks forward, creating a platform beneath him made of ice. Death Worm- Springs from the ground and devours all in its way. Jill (Mighty Jill Off) Bird (An Untitled Story) Velociraptor (Off-Road Velociraptor Safari)- Drives forward in his deadly jeep. Tumiki Fighter- Shoots straight forward as it drifts around. Toribash Fighter- Attacks with a powerful jump kick. Misery (Cave Story)

But it is a reference to an indie game: Indie Brawl. Those fuckers got nothing original so we just used their logo.

Idea for a support character: a knife assassin from Black Shades. Runs on and quickly stabs someone for high damage then walks nonchalantly off.
