I've been feeling like playing P&P, but I don't have a permanent group. So I figured it could be nice to play online, via IRC or something. Anyone here does it or would be up for it?

Any system would be good.

Player list:                               Timezone:
Otaku42 (Dungeon Master)GMT-5
KaoGMT-3
reetvaGMT-7
HideousGMT+1?
RentonGMT+2
battleragerGMT+1
Inanimate (spectator)GMT-8

Otaku42's setting introduction:
It was another cold winter in New Albania- colder than usual. Icicles clung to the roof of the Trout's Whiskers, a local internet cafe known publicly for its okroshka, and known secretly for something far more deadly. Papa Taras, the owner of the place, was one of the few that had been alive during the 12-Second War. He saw his home destroyed, and rebuilt into something much... stranger. Since that fateful day, he began sending out pamphlets and chain e-mails to warn the people about their precious Czar Byrek, and how his goons had begun wiretapping every one of their homes. Well, he was bound to be found out sooner or later, and they could have thrown him into the Valbone right then and there. Trouble was, he was a local favorite, and it turned out he had some friends in high places. So they let him off relatively easy- he didn't need his eyes or legs, anyway. Even so, it wasn't enough. The foolish old men in office failed to realize what Taras had done; he had started a revolution. Inside every pamphlet he sent were instructions on basic hacking tips, ways to subvert the national firewalls, and a mysterious clue, carved in thick red letters:

"FIND THE SVAROG, BEFORE THEY DO."

The first game will start Saturday, 16:00 GMT.

Alright people, we're closed Grin

We have already tried this many times in the past.  It failed miserably on every attempt.  Sad

But if you can get it working, I'd be happy to join.

We had trouble getting enough people.  And when we did get enough people, one of them wouldn't show up or something.

 :D

Well, four to six people is enough. I think five is ideal. If we can't get a few more persons on TIGS, we can always get someone from outside.

Would anyone familiar with any system volunteer to DM?

I'd like to join in, if only so I can test my own system. It's a streamlined version of D&D, and is intended for relatively short gameplay sessions.

Inanimate: I think they mean how we'll play - IRC, MSN, forum etc. Also, I'm fine with you watching Wink if someone drops out, or if Otaku42 is cool with six players, I suppose you can join too.

Others: Renton told me about a software called OpenRPG that seems pretty nifty, but I couldn't get it to run.

That's why i added the emoticon. I was kidding.

And I have actually never played! So, you guys would have to help me along, and I wouldn't want to be such a chore. Maybe watching it would help me understand it though?

We'll have to walk through how to do this, too, long time since I played an RPG like this.

Well, that's settled!

Now, I would suggest MSN. More private that way?

I prefer IRC. Which can be just as private.
