How many people are working on this, may I ask?

Also it looks cool. Kinda a little like Fez.

There's 3 of us, one for code and design, another for music and design, and one more for pixel art. Smiley

Poncho is looking really lovely! Does the parallaxing mechanic ever get used as a puzzle element? Or is it more a platforming skill?

Ok it's a little late, but here's this week's Screenshotsaturday, it's our protagonist meeting one of our favourite characters, The Junkyard King! :D

Hey! It's a bit of both, it's kinda open world so you can pick and choose the areas you want to go to in order to progress. Some areas are puzzles, some are more platformer. Though we do have some cool mechanics of moving enter layers around and obstacles moving in between the layers, so it can get pretty complicated. Smiley

Hey guys, this is a little late for screenshotsaturday, but I thought I'd post this little info-graphic on how the game has developed over the years... a lot has changed...

We're at Gamescom! Nintendo asked us out of the blue like a month ago if we'd like to be part of their lineup, so of course we said yes! This will be the first time any non developers have played the Wii U version, it's going to be a great chance to get some feedback.

This is so awesome, feeling pretty good right now. :D

I tried Poncho on the Nindies booth, really cool! The rep' was pretty cool too.
It looks like it will be a nice exploration platformer with lots of secrets. It kinda feels like Fez in the construction.

Good luck for the final run!

Hey guys, it's been awhile since out last update, hopefully you don't mind us trying to stick to doing less often, but more meaningful posts. Azn

What's been going on?!

A lot has happened over the last couple of months, for one thing, we're now being showcased as one of Nintendo's nindies! They've been great to work with and they really like the game, so far taking our Wii U version to both Gamescom and PAX.

EGX!

Also, Nintendo are going to be taking us to EGX! So there's still a chance to try out the Wii U version before the game comes out. We might even be there ourselves as well, so come say hi if you do go. Smiley

Some of you might be wondering how we're gonna use the gamepad for Wii U, well it's pretty simple, we're just going to allow off-TV play, similar to Shovel Knight. We actually prefer playing it on the gamepad, there's something that feels right about pixel art on a smaller screen...

Steam Stuff!

That's right, Poncho will have tradable steam cards, Steam cloud saves, achievements, profile backgrounds, and a remastered special edition of the soundtrack will be available on release!

Destructoid wrote a preview!

Check out this sweet preview article, it seems that so far the press unanimously agree that Poncho is worth playing, which is awesome!

There's also this little gem:

Interviews!

We're gonna be on the 'Sup Holmes show! For those of you that don't know him, Jonathan Holmes is a big part of Destructoid, and he kindly asked if we'd be interested in joining his show! Catch it on youtube this Sunday, 4PM EST (9PM in the UK). There'll also be a live chat feed so you can ask us questions!

https://www.youtube.com/user/SupHolmesShow

Danny (Coder & Co-designer) will also be doing a podcast interview tonight with Moonhawk studios tonight, at 9PM EST (2AM in the UK). Come check it out:

Now about that release date...

Right now PONCHO is done. Some versions are even ready to release right now. However, we have an ambition for the game to come out on all of our platforms at the same time. We also want to be sure that Poncho is the best game we can make, so we've been working hard to get it perfected.  Basically, we'll release it as soon as every version is perfect.

Every platform has their own specific certification procedures, and it's been a lot of work getting everything ready. We may not end up releasing this month, but in the end it'll all be worth it! We're super close though, we'll be sure to keep you posted on any developments.

In closing...

We're almost there guys. Soon PONCHO will be released simultaneously on almost every major platform. Soon...

Good day fellow devs

Ok... so a bunch of stuff has happened over the last few weeks. We know that we said in the last big update that we'd announce our release date soon, but we were waiting for one last hurdle to jump...

Certification. Which we have just now passed!

We're going to have a chat amongst ourselves over the next week or so to pinpoint when would be the best time to finally get this game to you guys. Passing certification means that we have the big green release button available to us now, calling to us... We will be providing an update on what Poncho's date will be very soon.

Comic Con!

For those of you visiting London this weekend, you'll be the first people to see the PS4 version of the game, available to play at this year's Comic Con! Get down there and check it out! :D

We did an interview with Jonathan Holmes!

Last update, we mentioned that we were going to do a live interview on 'Sup Holmes. Now the video is up for all to see! We talk about Earthbound and Fez comparisons, our journey developing the game and just generally awesome geek banter. CHEEEEEEECKITOOOOUT!

SUP HOLMES INTERVIEW

Soundtrack preview!

Poncho's soundtrack will be available via many outlets on release, including Steam! Check out this latest track preview from the game, this is what you'll hear while exploring the secret caves in the world of Poncho!

Soundtrack preview!

What now?

We're truly gearing up for release now, here's a list of all the awesome things to look forward to in the near future!

Poncho gets released! <- This is probably the best thing on this list.
3 new trailers are coming your way!
We will be holding a live AMA via Reddit, Facebook, Twitch etc, for you to ask us anything you like!
After release, the developers will be recording a live playthrough of the game, complete with dev commentary!
Competitions! Maybe with a few copies of the game up for grabs...
A Dev update where Danny gives some tips on how to best use Sprites in Unity! Also an insight into how Poncho was made!
More Dev diary videos! All future updates will have developers giving you all the news on Poncho and how weird we feel about finally releasing via our actual talking faces! Just like when we were running our Kickstarter!

In closing...

Well this is it. We're actually starting to feel super anxious about it all now, those reviews are on the way, and soon we'll be able to see what the world thinks of our little poncho wearing robot... Look forward to a new big update in a week or so!
