Digital Tree Games is hosting its first game making competition, aptly called "First Competition".

You can find more information at First Competition.

The winning entry will receive a whopping: $20

The probable themes are now out:

1. Queen
2. Hotel
3. Pirates
4. Desert
5. Pins

One theme will be selected from the list and announced.

On 15th Feb: the theme announced is Pirates.

So why are you announcing the compo now, and not announcing the theme til the compo is technically half-over?  I find it fun to participate in compos like this, just an excuse to make a game, so I'll think about it...

I have announced the comp much earlier than announcing the theme, so that this gives all those participating a fair chance. If I had announced the theme now, then those joining in late would have less time to start working on their game.

For those willing to participate, I will soon announce 5 themes and one of them will be selected as the theme for the First Competition.

I have updated the first post with the probable themes for the competition. The themes are also available on the forum. I think you might find something nice to make a game from.

Another 15 days and the final theme will be announced.

Less than a month now. Here is your chance to make a quick buck. The deadline is March 28 and a winner will be announced by March 31st.

The First Competition has now been closed. Only a single entry was received and will win the prize by default.

The $20 did not seem to entice many to take part in the competition. I guess its the recession effect.

Notwithstanding the turnout, I will soon announce the Second Competition.

Well, I had a feeling that there would be just a few entries. I did not expect it to be just one.

Another $20 would be up for grabs, very soon. I need to dole out the cash to the winning entry which will happen in the next two days.

After Easter, I will announce the Second Competition.
