Hey, I'm Juha Keränen. I'm the Lead Game Designer at Super God.

Here's me as a Magic: The Gathering card (not that it's very clever):

We just released a game called Riptale on Steam. I've also done a couple of other games in other teams that didn't do quite as well. First was Killing Engine and second Led Rain (released on Desura).

I'm interested in pretty much everything. Drawing, music, programming, writing, animation, design etc. etc. Here's a picture I made for our latest game:

My name is Radu  Gentleman and I'm a game designer. I'm currently working for a smallish studio called Sproing, based in Vienna.

I found out about these forums from watching the Noclip documentary about Spelunky. I decided to sign up because this seems like a great place to disseminate my eccentric views on game design and possibly draw new Believers into the Cult.

I've been playing video games for as long as I can remember. Certainly since before I could read. First machine was an Atari 2600 clone which had a couple hundred games built in. Then came a ZX Spectrum clone on which I learned how to program in Basic from my older cousin. I think I was about 8 at the time. Our first game was called The Pirate. You had to collect bottles of booze and when you did, you'd change color, indicating that you were getting drunk. It wasn't very exciting.

During college I started working as a web developer. Then, about 5 years ago, I got my first job as a game designer. I've worked for 3 companies since then. I like my job, but I'm constantly frustrated by how little control we as designers have over the games that we make. So much of the end product is a compromise between a myriad of factors that I'd never considered before working in the industry. In the end it feels like trying to keep a semi on the road driving with my feet while under attack from a pack of crazed monkeys.

I also believe the interactive experience medium can be much more than people think. I love blowing stuff up as much as the next guy, but games like (recently) Inside and The Witness have led me to believe that the limits of what we think a "game" can be are artificial. That our creations can be more than mindless entertainment. That is the credo of my Cult, The Children of Meaning.

OK I just made that up, but it sounds kinda catchy no?

Hello everybody!

My name is Jordi (although I'm kinda surprised nobody else has nabbed this username in ten years) and I'm a musician. I have two YouTube channels - the first is a solo project where I mainly upload my own stuff, but also some collaborations. The second is a collaborative project called Forest Elves, where myself and my musician friend Merry (merryberrymusic) post music that we've worked together on. I'll leave the links for you at the end if you're interested.

I've grown up playing all the old Final Fantasy games which has always inspired me. I'm a big lover of RPG soundtracks especially. Occasionally, I gig locally, usually singing and playing my Celtic Harp, which is fun. Otherwise, I work as a healthcare assistant. I've just reduced my hours to focus more on my music though, as I've never really had the time set aside to really focus on my passion. I guess that's a familiar story amongst many of us though!

The music I've made in the past hasn't generally been part of any wider project, but I'd love to start creating music with a purpose in mind. My expertise is world, ethnic, ambient and Celtic music, so if you're a fan of Mitsuda & Uematsu, or Loreena McKennitt and Enya, hit me up. A video game composer friend of mine pointed me in the direction of these forums, so here I am!

I hope to meet lots of other creatives on here and perhaps network a bit!

G'day Friends,

I am a Tech Artist by trade, Co-Founder of Cardboard Keep an Australian Independant studio.
Recently I've been working on a game I'm calling Witch Thief. A 3D bullet hell inspired by the likes of Touhou and Tyrian.
It's exploring the idea of a third person camera in a bullet hell.

I hope to log my progress on this endeavour on these forums and get some sweet feedback from you guys and share my own with you.

I look forward to seeing what everyone is working on Smiley

Hi,

My name is Eder, I am from Bilbao, Spain and I am a  Kiss C/C++ Kiss programmer. I am currently exploring other areas of game development, such as art, design and music/sound. Let's see if I can make a game all by myself!

I am currently maintaining a devlog but I am thinking on updating it here instead.

If you have any music game, tag me, I love anything related to music.

Hey,

I'm Niels, I'm 20 and co-founder of an indie studio, IronEqual with 4 other people. I make games that most people don't consider games so I call them (inter)active paintings because it sounds hella cool that way. But sometimes I make games.
I use to attend a video game school but dropped out to focus on our studio.

Come insult me at https://twitter.com/NielsTiercelin or say hi and I'll give you 5$ or something like that.

Trying to make fun games!

Hello everyone,

My real name is Geoffrey Mégardon (Nodragem is an anagram), I am French but I've been living in Cardiff for 4 years where I did a PhD in Psychology on how the brain selects action.

I started to program my first game (prototype) on a summer before to go to the University.
I wanted to learn to program after I saw Die Hard 4, in which there are super hackers. I was totally in admiration of these super hackers who could do everything with some line of codes.

Who, Me? To know to code seemed to open to so much knowledge and possibilities!

 Facepalm

Shrug Yeah, I know, that was a stupid reason to get started, but it was enough for me and I started reading stuff on Java and object-oriented programming. At the end of the summer, I got a Swing GUI that presents an amazing title screen reading "Tank Tank BoomBoom!", a 'Start' button and some options. When you clicked on 'Start', you would control a 2D tank moving on a map with the keyboard and shooting rockets with the mouse.

This "game" was totally inspired by the Tank game on Wii (in Wii play):

I spent so many hours with my childhood friend playing this!

Anyway, after that I learnt to program in python and I got attracted by the black hole that is Academic research and forgot about making video games...

... until some years ago, during my PhD! I got a girlfriend who helped me to get a stable pattern of work/sleep, and I started to play with LibGDX in my free time. Three years after, even though I had to write up a thesis in between, I am still developing games in my free time!

Although I didn't do much (just one game), I thought that I needed to become social about my hobby: meet the local developers in Cardiff, get involved in Forums, etc...

I got the book that Derek Yu wrote on Spelunky for my birthday and that is how I discovered about TIGforum Smiley !

I can't wait to play, test, create, show and discuss games!  Coffee

Hi all, I am James Wood from Scotland! I mostly spend time in devlogs being inspired by the amazing games people are working on. I love maths and art and programming is a great way to interface between the two. I've been making games for a while and have previously dipped my toes into AAA in the past but prefer experimenting and collaborating on a smaller scale. Look forward to seeing you around the forums! Currently I'm working on PHOGS which is a strange game involving double ended physics dogs. Have a great day!

Hey there   Gentleman

My name is Antoine, and I'm working for a small game company in Switzerland, called DNA Studios. I'm more of a communication man, PR specialist and that kind of things. I want to build a platform to help small devs in their advertisement and placement.

We make several things here at DNA Studios. We make serious games for institutions (Datak, Dans Ton Quiz, ...), and we also make indie games for our own pleasure. We just released a new game called The RatRace.

All of our games revolve around the same graphic universe, little characters we love, and named them the Babs. We have a Facebook page called The Babs, if you're interested.

All of our games are available on the platform AirConsole.

Never heard of it ? It's a platform for local multiplayer gaming, transforming your browser in console and your smartphone in controler.. Small, funny games, perfect for an evening with your friends.

Invite them and check it out if you don't believe me, you won't regret it. All you need is a web browser and smartphones.

Hello there.

My name is Diego Benitez and i'm a passionate Indie Game Developer from Santiago,Chile(South America). Currently working part time on my projects but looking foward to make a mark on the industry some day.
Here is a picture of me on a not so casual day.

I have learned mostly anything self taught, except art, wich im still working on it hehehee Roll Eyes.

I started a year ago a Video Game Dev company with a friend called Implosive Games and we dedicate most of our free time to our current projects!

Our games are mostly nostalgic plataformers of the 16 bit era of videogames and arcade shooters from the 90's.
Recently we both attended the GDC this year Well, hello there!, it was an awesome experience for us newbies at this industry and we learned a lot from pros and people like us, just starting.

I hope i learn from all of you guys in here! Beer!

Hi all.

I am a professional game developer with some years of experience under my belt on developing games for mobile and desktop platforms. I've worked on commercially released games such as Blobsy and Magnaut along with few canned projects, game jam games, school-projects and own projects.

My area of expertise is programming and I've usually been the one responsible for game logic, data integration, save systems, technical implementation of the user interface and overall code architecture. As for tools I prefer to use Unity3D with C# and Visual studio, but I originally started with C++ using Allegro5 making simple 2D games and also played around with early versions of Cocos2d-x (which was a pain)

Currently in-between jobs and doing some soul searching as I am having hard time recognizing the game development scene with all these micro-transactions, advertisements, season passes and overblown dlc's and working on some of these things has made me question the state and the health of the industry a bit. Either way I like developing games so whatever happens I'll continue to develop games and contribute to the industry as indie/hobby developer if nothing else
