Hello everyone!

My name is Chris Gruchacz, I'm a musician/composer/producer looking to enter the indie game industry and provide some music for some awesome games! I'm in the starting phases of launching my online presence, where I'll be releasing music under the stage name "Therlo".

Though my background is far more related to music than it is to game design (I've never designed a game, but I am currently experimenting with FMOD and Unity to see how it all works), I would have to say that playing video games really helped me fall in love with music. I grew up playing mostly AAA stuff... Halo, Elder Scrolls, Fallout, Fable, WoW (lots and lots of WoW), some Starcraft, some SWTOR, Maple Story, Rift, Battlefield, Mass Effect, to name a few... just lots of big name stuff. As far as indie games are concerned, I'm a bit less familiar. I played some Subspace Continuum back in the day (anyone still playing now???) and recently just played through FEZ, and my Steam wishlist is growing by the day.

Of all the games I've played, Halo, WoW and Morrowind+Oblivion+Skyrim had the most profound impact on me. Their soundtracks are incredible and they really took me to a new place while playing. They were super effective at making me feel immersed in the game. I still keep my Halo 2 soundtrack CD in my car so I can get a nice slap in the face from Nostalgia while I drive to work.

So anyway, after years of playing in rock bands and writing electronic music (although I still love these things and do these things regularly), I am embracing what I feel is my deeper calling and have started working at composing for video games. There's so much more freedom and room for artistry and imagination with soundtrack music, plus I love using orchestral sounds (I do tend to get a bit philosophical with this stuff). I haven't worked on any games yet, but I've been writing some music to use as my examples/portfolio, as well as just for some practice, and I'll be releasing it on SoundCloud, so feel free to check it out!

https://soundcloud.com/therlo_music

Based on what I've read and seen so far on this site, the indie game community seems like it's full of awesome people, and as a newcomer I definitely feel welcome and excited to check out everyone's work!

Hey everyone! My name is Daniel and I'm an indie game developer working on my first commercial game!

I got into games when I was a kid playing the Sly Cooper and Jak & Daxter games on the ps2, and always wanted to create interactive worlds of my own since.

Now I'm on a journey to make that dream a reality  Smiley

Hello! I'm Rob and this is me holding my cat after I decided to join the Ridiculous Hairstyle Club:

I've been playing video games from an early age as we first owned a ZX Spectrum and then a 128k Spectrum (they were British computers if you were wondering) before I was lucky enough to get a SNES.

The game that stands out for me the most is probably Secret of Mana - mainly because it's the first game that I remember making me actually feel anything (Sprite noo!!!).

I don't think it was video games that made me actually want to MAKE games though. It was seeing or knowing about different board games like HeroQuest / Space Marines and not being able to play them that made me get a pair of scissors, cardboard, and paper and make my own very bad knock-off versions. I also wrote rules for Pen and Paper RPG's that nobody ever played after I discovered (and never played) DnD.

I didn't know or realise that I could get a job designing and making games so I promptly began working in "normal" jobs that I usually didn't like much.

Around 4 years ago I started to use GameMaker Studio and I've logged around 3000 hours between GameMaker 1 & 2 and I'm loving it.

I have one released game Call Center Sim: (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.lolgames.CallCenterSimADS which I wanted to make after playing so many Kairosoft games.

I've gotten into making Tutorials on YouTube for GameMaker and I've been hired to work on a few projects too, but I've also been working on some of my own projects (I'll make a thread in the Play Testing section for one of them).

Nice to meet you all!

PS I also moved to California a few years ago.

Bonjour,

I'm Thomas from France. I found this forum thanks to Spelunky, the book. I'm new in game dev, slowly learning the joys of Unity. I also do some visual art, inspired by glitch art. My plan for 2020 is to travel in van throught Europe while working on games projects and creating content for Youtube. But I'll tell you more about that later. For now you can follow me via Instagram.

I'm a big fan of Sid Meiers's games, rogues likes, Zeldas (Majora <3 ) and currently playing Rust. Also big interest for History, travels, skate, glitch art and many more.

Cant wait to play your games !

Hello everyone!
My name is michele, but I go by the name Kastlo, or whatever you feel like. I'm from Italy.
It's been a while since I've partecipated in any forum discussion but I've been trying to find a community to become a better game programmer/designer and maybe make a couple of friends on the way!

As anyone here I do have my favourite games but different titles come to mind at different times, and I like to think that I'm someone who tries to like something.
But maybe I could try to spit out a couple of titles that I didn't enjoy that much, so maybe you'll have a better opportunity to like me or not.

I don't like The Elder Scrolls (and by that I mean Oblivion and Skyrim, didn't play too much of the ones before those)
I like Bastion's OST, but I didn't like the gameplay all that much
I don't like Super Meat Boy or Spelunky. Not even The Binding of Isaac

I think these are more than enough for now. Oh, it's totally unrelated but I LOVE ponchos. I have one irl and I'm super proud of it.  Gentleman

hi, my names Ian, my main job is web development but i've worked on personal game projects on and off for years now. I usually end up starting something and get discouraged when my lack of art skill gets in the way.

I've currently started on a fighting game that I've made more progress with than others, so i'm hoping to make some connections and get feedback

Hi my name's Silva, and I wanna make a cool game. I'm good at art and can compose music, and I'm a computer science major who wants to inspire people the way my favorite games inspired me. I wanna make a great game which I can be proud of. I'm joining here so I can surround myself with a community of people who I can compete with and learn things from. I hope to be an active member and help others improve while I improve myself.

Hello, everyone. I go by Zeyrr. I've been playing games since I was about 3, like most people here, and I've wanted to compose music for games ever since I was around 8. So, I've just practiced that a bunch. I'll likely be looking around for light projects to work on, so I look forward to working with everyone.

Hello, I'm a full time software developer and I make games during my spare time. I enjoy games with a great story more than games with great gameplay or graphics.

Hello there

My name is Daniel

I am from sweden.

Love rpg type of game.  My faves are diablo and zelda and final fantasy.

I really enjoy both experiance a world and characters and also developing them myself.

RPGs with pen and paper is very fun too.

I also love numbers. Seeing how much HP i got , how much damage i do, how much i progress over time with new gear.

That in combo with characters thats fun or dramatic is perfect in my opinion.

Other stuff I like is anime and kpop and console, pc, games generaly.

I also have a 11 yr son who is just like me. He is really into game developing already.

See you around on the forum.

New IDEA Games
Delivering innovation in gaming

/I know it sounds like a delusion of grandeur, but check out the video below/

We have created the first real-time FMV / FPS combo, had more than a million players and now releasing our greatest: Hijacker Jack! Started game develpoment 7 years ago with an interactive erotic game but had no funds to promote it and friends' friends never shared it on their social media. Wonder why... So I changed the topic and created a wasteland FMV / FPS game called SOV and the gamers liked it! There is no stop since then, sold my car, took a bank loan and developed a new game on a whole different level: Hijacker Jack!

Thanks for you attention,
New IDEA Games
