Hello everyone,
My name is Kameron, but all my friends call me either shadow or grim. Which is how I came up with my account name GrimShadow. I'm a fresh pup to the whole game dev thing. I just made my first game demo this month but I've always wanted to make games my entire life. The only thing that was stopping me was myself, and my terror of coding. It just always seemed like a alien language and I was so afraid I wouldn't be good at it. I tried taking a computer science class in high school and my fear became a reality. I hated that I wasn't as good as everyone else who just started and I hate not being the best at something or at least in the top of anything I do... So I ran from it and left behind my dream, I looked to the things that I'm already good at one of them being cooking. So I went to Culinary School finished in the top of my class and felt on top of the world. At least until I started cooking in the industry. Cooking in a restaurant is so very different and it was a huge eye opener. I realized after doing it for 2 years that I didn't want to do this for the rest of my life and went into a major depression.

But after a lot of self searching I was about to go to school for another topic I was extremely fascinated by which is spiders. Yeah I know I'm weird lol but after more research I figured out something important. I figured out no matter what I do in life it is going to be a lot of work and pain. So I said "well if that's the case then I'll do what I always wanted to do which is make video games!" So I've been putting in as much work into it as I can. Nearly 9 hours a day of learning coding and unity and I made my first demo. I've been inspired by games of the past games like Castlevania, Doom 1&2 and golden axe. They don't make games like that anymore and I'm sad but i'm hoping I can bring back the flame of old retro games. Thanks for reading my entire life story lol I hope y'all will take it easy on this fresh billy goat of a creator and maybe play some games together or something   Coffee

Hi everyone,

I'm Josh Bringle, a mostly Unity C# developer, but I also work with JavaScript, C++, and other languages when necessary.

Some of the professional games I've worked on include Build-A-Bear: Merry Mission, Revenue Smasher: An ABM Adventure, and Build-A-Bear Adventures. Long ago, I got the chance to help develop the BradyGames Official Map Apps, where I got to work with several AAA game names and people that were listed in strategy guides from when I was a kid. In addition to games, I also develop apps, trade show and museum kiosks, and interactive web content.

My favorite games include many classic Nintendo, Squaresoft, Capcom, Konami, and Sega games, but I do play modern games as well.

I'm currently working on The Rusty Sword at Plow Games, and The Legend of Santa in my spare time.

Here's a link to my portfolio website:

Glad to be here!

Greetings, fellow developers.

I'm a solo developer currently working on a 2D action runner game called Cardinal Nexus, for my humble company Full Threaded Games: https://fullthreadedgames.itch.io/cardinal-nexus

I've always been interested in game development since I have use of memory, and I've fooled around with all kinds of tools since more than a decade ago (modding for various games, RPG Maker, 3D modelling, various digital art software). It's something I was always interested in, but because of several circumstances I never decided to invest time into it in a serious way. Until now, that is.

Glad to be a part of this community!

Yellow Hello, I'm Ali.

I am an amateur graphic designer, and a beginner at everything else. I've been brought here many times by pinterest, so I'm not exactly a fresh lurker. I saw a mutual I know on twitter link here today so I decided to make an account. I have like zero experience making games and barely the time. I guess I play games though... however I would consider myself a casual. So for my first project I decided to go all out an make a JRPG/RPG inspired thing. You can check it out on twitter if you're interested but uh yea. I'll lurk around on here (maybe even post!?) while slowly watching my dreams be crushed (or realized?)

Thanks for having me.

Hello, I'm MisshapenSmiley, and I'm all about the qualityriffic family-friendly entertainment. I'm am amateur game developer, but I am not sure how OK it is to write about games I have made yet, so I will err on the side of caution. I primarily joined so I could finally post to the excellent Leilani's Island devlog Smiley. Who knows, maybe I'll post about my own stuff later.

Hello all!

My name is Brandon, and I'm the husband in our husband and wife dev team.

After trying the whole desk job thing, I couldn't take it any longer, and with a little push from my better half finally quit my job and started doing game dev.

We actually sold our house to be able to fund our studio, so doing everything we can to spread the word about our upcoming 2D metroidvania - Veil of Maia.

Nice to meet you all!  My Word!

Hello! My name's HappyFabian.

I am a Honduran software developer that works on corporate software, but I am trying to slowly transition to game development because games have always close to my heart.

Picked up Monogame + NEZ, and I am developing my own platformer about a rabbit girl on a journey through the ruins of an ancient civilization.

I have much to learn, and hopefully much to show.

I'll be in your hands. Thank you for reading.

The indie games community is so small... let's get to know each other!  So that when we end up meeting in person it's not too frightening.  You know, like I want to know that DrDerekDoctors is a conjoined twin with a nipple on his forehead before I actually see him live.

Let us know what you're all about... how did you get introduced to gaming?  What are your passions?  What makes you tick? Let's go!  Feel free to pimp a website or art or anything here, too.

I'll start, and I'm going to rock it so hard so that you'll all be shamed to rock it even harder:

My name's Derek, and I'm the editor-in-briefs of TIGSource.  Eternal Daughter, I'm OK, and Aquaria are the games I most commonly associated with.

I look like this when I'm riding the subway without having slept:

How did I get into games?  When I was very young my uncle bought a NES for my cousins hoping he could get into it with them, but it ended up being ME that got hooked.  Super Mario, man!  It was amazing.  From then on, I started designing games on paper with my friends.  When my parents got a computer, the first thing I did was start making games on them.  The rest, as "they" say, is history.

I tend to like lots of different types of games.  My all-time favorites tend to be that way because I associate them with good memories with family and friends... as a result, my (incomplete) list may seem a bit pedestrian.  Oh well! Grin

When Zelda 3 came around, wow!  That first sequence when you're wandering around in the rain, trying to follow Zelda's voice, really blew my mind when I first played it.  What an incredibly tense introduction.

The Zelda series has always had a fond place in my heart because of the time I spent playing it with my dad as a youngster.

Phantasy Star II - Wonderful RPG for the Sega Genesis and another one I played with my dad.  Along with having great presentation, it also contained one of the saddest events in videogame history (at least for me): the death of Nei to Neifirst. *Sniff* Cry

Street Fighter II - My friend's dad would make us say Buddhist mantras 1,000 for a single quarter to play this game, and we'd fucking do it just because we were so obsessed!  Seriously, it was all we talked about for like 3 years.  Until this game came along:

Doom II, natch!  I won't say much about this one.  I was approaching my teens when this came out and, what can I say, I dug the great graphics and extreme violence.

Castlevania: SOTN - Pure 2D gaming bliss after such a drought of good 2D games.  I was like an old man being introduced to Viagra after years of impotence.

To be honest, I haven't played an indie game that I've fallen in love with the way I did the games of the NES/Super NES/Genesis era.  Not sure if that's because I'm too old now to be wowed the way I was when I was a kid or whether I just haven't played that magical game yet.  Cave Story definitely came close:

One of the things I (and I know Alec, too) want to capture with Aquaria is that feeling of bliss when playing those games of yore.  When you get so caught up in a story or idea that you lose track of time.  If even a single player experienced that from the game, I'd die a happy man.

So that's me in a (game-oriented) nutshell.  What about you?

hey,

Im a astudent and gamer

Hi everyone!
My name is Bruno. I've been a software developer for around a decade now (damn, I feel old!).
I spent the last few months putting blood and tears towards indie game development and I'm eager to share that with the world.
Thanks for having me!

My name is Sean, I'm an indie game dev.

The first game I can remember playing is the first Super Mario Brothers. Over the years some of my favorites have been The Shining Force Series, Disgaea, Total Annihilation, Prototype, Spider-Man 2 on the PlayStation 2 and modded Minecraft. Another huge favorite for me is Legend of Dragoon. I like that style of combat very much. The simple timing mechanic if done well makes a lot of games much better. Like Paper Mario, Gladius, and of course Legend of Dragoon.

I've only made one game so far, a Global Game Jam game inspired by One Finger Death Punch. It went pretty well. That was several years ago, I'm working on a small space game right now, and I've got a grander protect, an RPG, that I've been wanting to make since before I knew I could make my own games. Before I do that I'm planning to make a top down mining/farming/automation game with a focus on combat and climbing a tech tree towards technological transcendence. I'd like to have two solid games that I can point to before I launch a kickstarter campaign for the RPG.

I can't really draw, so I get most of my art from free sites, itch.io or humble bundle. I'm also open to finding an artist to work with.

Excited to be here, thanks for having me!

Hello all! My name is Derek and I am a game developer like most of you. Over the last year give or take I’ve gotten a team together to work on a 2d mmorpg.

Yes I know I know a mmorpg?? The team consists of a good number of dedicated people wanting to learn what it takes to make our dream come true. I chose a 2D game because well that’s what I grew up on and there seems to be a large lack of decent visually please mmorpg video games out there that cater to the older generations. I hope y’all will enjoy following my project and I’ll enjoys yours too.

Hi everyone!

I love games, cats, and digital art. I'm a part of an indie studio: Space Fox Games. We are currently working on our first PC & Console Metroidvania game called "RIN: The Last Child". I would love to share the results of our work so far with you, so here I am! In my spare time, I like to make pixel art.

Thanks for having me. Have a nice day!

Hello! My name is Seth, better known as Dopply, best known to the internet as the guy who made those fan Zelda CD-i remasters for PC near the end of 2020. I've been a hobbyist independent developer for 15 years or so, so I was actually surprised I didn't already have a TIG account! In fact, my journey towards becoming a professional developer probably would not have happened without this forum and its various resources, so I'll go ahead and throw a big thanks that way.

As mentioned, I'm trying to transition to professional development - thanks to some amazing opportunities that opened up for me in the wake of releasing my fan-made remasters. It's pretty crazy what can happen if you follow through on a joke and actually finish something for once, haha. Best of luck to everyone working on their projects. Independent game development has never been more exciting!

Hello everyone!

For most of my life playing video games has been a huge passion of mine; probably to an unhealthy extent. After ages of just playing them, I hope to make some of my own! I started six months ago, with next to no knowledge on any of the skills required to make games. As such I expect to be pretty bad at it for a while. Hopefully, after lots of perseverance, I'll be able to make something good! If you want to try out games I've made, my itch.io page is https://linsonlime.itch.io/. Thanks for reading!

Greetings!
I used to do gamedev profesionally some years ago (mainly games based on children's IPs), and have since transitioned into doing native app development full-time.

Recently I've started dabbling with some game development again in my spare time, and I am currently using Unity.

Hey! I'm Comfie, a Finnish indie developer with a passion for visual arts and game development.

I'm quite unknown, I only have a small following on twitter and discord! I've thought about joining tigsource for years now and never really got around to it, but I guess the time has finally come.

I've made mostly jam games, but my latest project Moonstuck was released on Steam for free! If magically someone has heard of me before it's probably through that.
My dream is to make games full-time after I'm done with high school, but that all depends on if I can actually finish a damn project. My goals as a developer is to make abstract and in some ways innovative games, and that's what I'll be focusing on with my future projects.

Super excited to join the community!
Cheers.

Hi, this is game studio. We are a small group of game developers who develop various indi games. It would be good to meet new people in this group who share similar interests. These interactions will be good for out team to develop more knowledge and skills. Looking forward to having some meaningful and enriching discussions.
We also hope to contribute more to the growth of this forum.
