Hello,
I'm Gongjak, a developer skilled in programming and the Unity engine, with a significant role in game design as well. I am currently the developer of Crimson Quest, a title set for release on Steam. Since I was born, games have always been a constant in my life. In my home, we had a Sega Genesis and Mega Drive, and later, I spent time with the SNES. My decision to become a game developer came when I was 12 years old. I won first place in an event featured on a TV program, earning a PS2 as a prize. Growing up in a financially struggling household since the age of 10, I never imagined being able to own a PS2, something I had long desired. Winning that console allowed me to experience MGS2 for the first time, a game that profoundly inspired me and solidified my dreams of becoming a developer.

Now, I’m eight years into developing Crimson Quest, my first project aiming for an official release. The game builds on a unique mechanism combining RTS and adventure elements, laying the groundwork for something truly innovative and ambitious.

Please follow my journey. I am confident in my ability to create games that bring joy and happiness to players, and I will always give my utmost effort to make that a reality.

Thank you.

Hello everyone!
I'm Javier, a hobbist game developer from Spain, focused on casual games for mobile devices.
I have already published several games. Some of them could even be considered as successes, and others as complete failures. We are still investigating the formula for success...
Here is a sample of what I have done
 Hand Point RightCatapult

 Hand Point RightAlien UFO

 Hand Point RightDungeon Explorer

 Hand Point RightHill Racing

 Hand Point RightCross the Road

I'm mainly here because I'm working on several projects and I would like to share them with you as they progress, not doing everything so... alone, which is how I've always done everything. I would even like to slowly invest more hours in game development (my time is really limited), to see if in the future I could have real benefits...

Hey guys,

I am Markus, currently developing my first Indie Game Smiley. I just finished my master's degree and now want to go into being a game developer, so I started working on my Indie game. I've also done lots of smaller projects before but never released any of them, so I am excited to learn all about marketing and how to actually make a successful game :D.

Hi , Myself "unicayu" from developing country India. Happy to join tigsource. I looking for partner/group who can shape the idea of different games. there are traditional games which can be basis of modern 3d game. Games are adrenaline genrerators but traditional games can be addictive. One can combine both features in modern 3D games. There are lot of masses who may consume affordable 3d games on their mobile.

Hi everyone,

I'm Andy. I've been immersed in video games since elementary school. It started with Atari, Nintendo FC, and arcades, and then moved on to PC games in middle school. Creating video games gradually became a dream of mine, so I chose computer science in college and joined a game company after graduation. It's been over 20 years since I entered this industry. As a programmer, I participated in the development of several 3D FPS games early in my career, then shifted to 3D MMORPGs and contributed to many successful projects on both PC and mobile platforms. I have long focused on the development of 3D game engines and clients. Our engine was even used to produce season 1 and season 2 of The Cosmicrew, a 3D animated TV series. In recent years, I've gradually become an indie game developer, continuing to pursue my game-making dream while also teaching my child about game development and accompanying him on his journey.

Here's the homepage of my studio with my child:
Leonandy Studio

Please forgive my ignorance, but I only recently learned about TIG Forums. I'm deeply inspired by the creative spirit of the players on this forum, whether it's the gameplay or the art style, everything is eye-opening. I'm really looking forward to meeting more friends here and discussing various issues in the indie game journey together.

Thank you!

I'm Vincent and I sometimes develop games. My last finished game was 7 years ago before my partner and I had a kid and I've been working on another game since then which is still basically in the prototype phase, although lately has been moving along.

It seems like I created a user here a very long time ago and never posted, but I thought I would try to get into the community more since I would love to understand marketing/promotion better (these are things which I generally do not think about). I also really struggle to work collaboratively (its not really an emotional thing, its more like I just don't know how to organize the work) and want to see what other people have to say about the topic.

I'm getting up there (in my forties) and the longer I live the more difficult I find it to explain anything because the more you think about most things the less clear they become. I used to think I liked particular types of games but its become clear to me over time that mostly the games I like have some kind of gestalt quality which is only sort of related to genre and kind of difficult to pin down. I like most of the games that cool kids born in the 80s like.

As a game developer my primary inspirations have been Shiren the Wanderer and Balloon Kid but that list more reflects the contingencies of inspiration than a particular interest per se in those games.

My favorite thing about designing a game is the weird way that after you work on something for a few years it begins to have a life of its own and you look at it and play it and think "Where did this come from?" even though it came from you.

Hi fellow game developers!

I have always been a developer with a passion for game development but also music/sound development.

In 2004, I decided to start my own business with the goal of creating computer games. One year later, I released a full blown 3D adventure game, written from scratch in C++.

As some of you may know, 2005 was about the worst time to release a computer game. Big game companies squeezed independents flat by controlling the market. I was able to sell the game, but in very small numbers, not enough to regain what it had cost to make it. I know there were several reasons, but the biggest one was marketing.

So I gave up and went to do some 'normal' jobs. I never felt happy...

Recently, I decided that I want to try it again! Now we have platforms like Steam, GOG, Itch, ... and I learned a lot from all my previous experiences.

However, while the world of game development has changed a lot, I am still very stubborn about my development environment. I trust no one Wink. I went even more hardcore and I now develop in pure C with Lua (using vim as editor on Arch Linux). I still create my own 3D, audio, game engine. The only thing I no longer do myself is the window management because SDL2 does that job very good and I got tired of putting so much work into doing it myself.

Currently, I am completely working alone on a new game, and while I have some input from a friend, I think it is important to start and check out what others think about specific subjects. That's why I created an account here, and I hope I can start a great journey here, get to know others, share great ideas and hopefully show off a finished game at some point. At this point, however, I am not ready to share exactly what I am creating, but that will probably change at some point.

Fun fact: to create an account here, I had to prove that I am not a robot. One of the questions to do that was answer what the alias of Daisuke Amaya was (sorry?). I didn't know who that person was and I found the answer by asking the exact same question on DuckDuckGo AI chat... which is a robot of course Wink.

Thanks for letting me in guys! I hope this will be a great experience!

Welcome! Yeah, the account creation process was made for a different era. We've occasionally talked about updating it somehow, but right now it lives on as a historical curiosity.

I'm happy to see someone else who cares to write in C these days. Despite the cultural shift toward using game engines and higher level languages for everything, there are still at least some of us doing it the direct way. Good luck with your current project!

Heya, I'm Oliver! I'm currently studying software engineering with hopes of becoming a game engine developer, or just generally working on something game-related--in a small team.

Why indie game development? I enjoy doing new things, and it seems like indie developers especially are always learning and trying something new in order to stand out and broaden their roles on a small team. Though I'm most comfortable as a programmer, I'm currently having a great time learning 3D modelling/animation as well as researching cat behavior (hence my username) as part of a indie game project, so I hope the indie scene gives me more experiences like that Smiley

Disco Elysium is one of my favorite games, so it was an experience to discover and read through the art director's post here on the forums! It's awesome to read about details like how the 3D in-game renders are composited from 2D brushed art. Other favorite games of mine include Factorio, Tunic, and Starcraft 2.

I've read the past few pages of introduction posts, and was pleasantly surprised to see so many people are still making their own game engines! I was able to make my own basic engine earlier this year. That experience made me appreciate all the hardware/software effort that goes into making a game run smoothly, much less convey an immersive world on a flat screen. Ditto on SDL 2 being an impressive library--it really simplified the process of creating windows and handling user input across multiple platforms/operating systems.

There's a lot of passion in the indie scene, so I hope to join in on that energy here! Thanks for reading my introduction--I wish you the best on luck on your own projects! Coffee

Hello gamers.

My name is Sev Does. I do art, music, comics, and VIDEO GAMES!!

I haven't done anything too impressive, mostly simple visual novels and RPGmaker slop, but I wanna get into making cooler stuff (if I could learn to actually code, that is).

So far, the only game I'm really actively working on is this little thing I like to call Mirror Drama. It's yet another VN, but more high effort and ambitious than what I'm used to (it steals mechanics from Persona lol).

Hello everyone!

Let's keep it simple. I'm Daniel and love programming since my childhood. Mostly programming non-game stuff but sometimes I get the itch to do something game-like. So at the moment I'm working on a "First Person Roguelike Dungeon Crawler with Monster Collection Elements" called Gloamvault (https://bigjk.itch.io/gloamvault) Gomez

I'm a 16 y/o young man who's taken coding classes before, and for my Senior Project I decided to sell one video game and make one dollar off of it. I have 3 months. Am I screwed?

I also have a friend who has taken more classes about programming, but he's just unavailable all the time.

The project is a tower defense similar to Plants vs. Zombies, but with wilder ideas and with randomized design to make it indefinitely replayable. This is my itch.io with nothing on it yet https://idahoshaffer.itch.io

Where can I go to have the most success in the beginning?

You can do it! If you're targeting mobile phones, I recommend learning Unity or Godot. If you're targeting PCs and Macs, I recommend Unreal Engine.

The most important thing to do is to pick an engine and start learning it, following beginner's tutorials and things like that. As soon as you've got something going, post about it here on TIGSource and on social media, and try and build up a community with others to help push you forward and give you some camaraderie. Good luck, and jump in! The water's fine Smiley
