Hello, my name is Vinh Duong and I've lurked around the forums for a while now, though I haven't done very much in terms of posting.  The most activity I've done thus far on the forums was post artwork of character renditions and recent promo artwork for Shark Arm Studios.

I was first introduced to the indie game scene by the very same people when they showed me a game that they had made and was featured on G4TV a while back.  The BIG Indie game that did me in, however, was "Cave Story," and later, my interest was revitalized by "Iji."  So since then, I've been something of ghost artist/helper for Shark Arm in promoting their recent work.

At present, I'm a soon-to-graduate art student that specializes in mostly digital painting.  Lately, I've been trying to make most of my paintings epic in their presentation and composition.  Trying to develop my concept art skills so that maybe I could be of use to the gaming community.

As for my tastes in games, I tend to like most genres (in indie and mainstream), but I find myself playing FPS the most because... well, they're everywhere.  I tend to favor RPGs the most though, because I love a good story and I love to see the development of characters and inter-character relationships.

Hey all

just joined the TIG forums after reading about the Assemblee competition.

I've been an avid (PC mostly) gamer since the age of 4 (currently 24), so it all began with the classic C64.

Got some programming skills and have even made several attempts at making a game of my own.

I also come from the world of visual art, and occasionally spend time playing music.

Anyway, when it comes to games, my ultimate goal is to someday create a game which would

piece together all these fields of interest and mold them into one entertaining work of art.

Anyway, i'll try posting some stuff for the Assemblee competition, so expecting to have some

feedback.

Hi there, I'm Bonezmann, I mainly make games as a hobby and for the odd Competition or two on a certain forum.

I was a gamer since I was around six years old, the first game I played was the old Prince of Persia on our 386, the screen was mono-colored.  After that we sold the 386 and bought a 486, which we had till I was fifteen.  It broke from old age and we got a second hand pentium one, three of those later my dad bought me a pentium 4(Celeron), which I had for Five years and earlier this year the PSU exploded, leaving me pc-less.  I then built up a new pc, which I'm typing from now.

Games-wise, I played Prince of Persia, Wolfenstein 3D, Crystal Caves, Cosmo's Cosmic adventure, Xargon etc. over the years, until we got the pentium 1.

I got into Game Development about a year or two ago when I decided on a whim to enter a competition, from there I had lots of ideas that pretty much didn't stop coming.

I mainly use Game Maker 7, it's really easy to use, although I'm starting to explore some other engines like XNA.

I'm looking forward to sharing my ideas and games with everyone here!  Beer!

Hi There,
My name is Daniel and I live in Sweden. Have played games since I can remember and my dream has always been to develop games for Nintendo.

But til that happens, my friends and I have started our own indie gaming company. You can check it out at www.ludosity.com or follow us on twitter (Ludosity) or read our blog www.ludosity.com/blog. Hopefully they will have new looks soon. We are currently working on our game called Project M.I.F.O. which we hope we can release this year on the major digital download sites.

So a litte more about me: I have studied computer game development and specialized in graphics (3d animation) at the University of Skövde in Sweden and had the honor to study with cool guys such as Erik Svedäng (we also made a game together Smiley), reallyjoel (he is one of the co-founders of Ludosity), Mårten Brüggemann (the dude who came up with the game Fret Nice by Pieces Interactive), Ultimortal (Iji-creator)

Currently I'm working with customer relations and trying to figure out how we should run our own company. It is quite difficult I tell you Smiley

If you want to know more about me just hit me a PM.

Cheers!

HELLO!

I am JMickle and I make music and games.

When slowly slipping into the world of Independent games I was amazed at the talent of these (harsh to say but) non-professional artists (in design and art) and slowly saw the sad degeneration of commercial games. Luckily the world of indie games lights a new path for me and I harbor its welcoming arms with mine.

Pretensions over, I love indie games and more specifically, indie game music. I even wrote an article about it over at www.gamingw.net but alas it has since been archived beyond the limits of my user-ship.

I have handily indexed some of my music in topics like this one:

http://www.thepoppenkast.com/forum/index.php?topic=1496.0

which i will surely make another one of somewhere over here, where people will be interested Smiley

Also, my games can be found at this good place:

I hope to enjoy my stay here, as I am sure you do too.  Smiley

Hey everyone. I've posted a few times, and I realized I haven't posted here yet.

My name is Ted Martens and I'm a game artist who wishes that he could program.  A few games I've made with friends are Dinowaurs, Treefort Wars, and Rhino and I've got a folio site and blog with my art and rambles if you wanna check them out.  My favorite consoles are SNES & Genesis, but I get excited about games of all kinds.

Everyone here is so creative and passionate about making games and it's completely awesome.  I already feel welcomed and can't wait to contribute.  The Assemblee Compo is a great idea and has gotten me thoroughly PUMPED!!!

PM me anytime to chat about stuff.  Here's a picture of me.

Ello all, I'm Morpheus, I make games, and art whenever I feel like it. I'm 17 years old and live in the United States of Bullshit. My hobbies include skateboarding, hanging out with my friends, playing and making video games, and extreme log rolling.

I'm currently working on a game called Robot Factory and hope to actually finish something for once in my damned life.

Yep, that's me.

Obligatory? Oh fine.

I'm Matt, currently a student and hopeful Computer Science major. I may or may not end up creating games for a living, most likely not. I'll probably end up being a programmer or a web designer, as those are two other things I am fairly good at and enjoy.

Got into video games through my dad who bought a TON of games for an old Mac when I was 5 years old+.

What can I say? I love indie games. Indie games are (nearly) always fresh, interesting, challenging, unique, and beautifully drawn. 3d graphics are not what make or break a game. There are a ton of 2d indie games that I'd play longer than a commercial 3d game by some big corporation. I'd love to make indie games too, but I can never start and complete a single project (due to my lack of focus/motivation and schoolwork), so I have no games to show yet.

I can also make some half decent programmer art Wink, but it takes me quite a while and I'm quite bad at animating.

As for websites, I've got a few. I'll probably throw in my personal website on my profile sometime tomorrow. Just not feelin' like it now, and the others will be nowhere near related to gaming.

Hi, I'm Prashant from India.  I'm currently pursuing my masters in software engineering.  Making games has been an ambition of mine for a while now.  Although I'm a potent programmer, I have absolutely no experience in making games, and to be honest, have no idea as to where to start.  I figured this would be a good place to help out with projects, thereby enabling me to learn and contribute at the same time.  I am a keen learner and am willing to commit as much time as possible.  I am good with C/C++ and have toyed with C# and XNA.  I also have some experience with Java, Perl, and so on.  So, if anybody is willing to let me help out on their projects, please let me know.

Personally, I'm rather tired of large studios selling us drivel and charging us the moon for it.  Although a few of them produce gems occasionally, studios like EA have left me disappointed year after year with their failure with what once were amazing franchises.  This is probably why I'm starting to dabble with Indie games of late.

I'm Charles. I'm a fresh graduate and majored in Information Technology. I'm a jack of all trades, master(not even close) of none. I can draw decently albeit my coloring and inking waterloo. I'm a fairly adept programmer who can pick up a PL without too much difficulty. I've been into video games for as long as I can remember. Lastly, I often find myself putting things off and severely under-motivated.

Hopefully, I'll be inspired by all the awesome people here and make something worth showing. XD

Hello everyone,

I'm Juha Kangas from Uppsala, Sweden where I work at Starbreeze as a gameplay designer (fancy words for level scripter). I'm making smaller games at home during my free-time, at the moment using XNA (am loving C#). I will be going over to Unity pretty soon though (and get to keep C#!).

Other interests include various nerdy activities such as boardgames and pnp role-playing. I'm also into advanced free-diving, to balance it out.

I'm currently working on a submission for IGF...I gotta be done soon, oh crap.  Shocked

Hey.

Wow. well, I'm new here, and apparently, I've broken some mandatory forum rules so now i have to do this. Not because of rules, but because i have to, for myself.
I'm awful at Obligatory Introduce Yourself Thread posts.
I'll start by saying that it will probably be a case of TLDR, because i sometime have what a friend on my called "Writer's Diarrhea" (the opposite of writer's block).

So I'm Oded Sharon, i'm an indy game developer from Israel, and recently, I really lack feeling the love from fellow indy devs. Or from a lot of other people in the game industry, whom I used to consider friends,  as a matter of fact.
I've been struggling hard with Pizza Morgana, the game I've been working on with my company for the past two and a half years.

But wait, let me start at the beginning.
I'm 32 years old. I live in Israel.
This is me, giving a lecture at the GC|DC Game conference in Leipzig, Germany.

And doing my favorite thing as of recent, Drinking while playing Rock Band or Guitar Hero:

This is me coding "Anteamz" a Global Game Jam 2009 game, a week before my son was born (we fear my wife would deliver during the game jam, but she didn't)

Here's my Facebook badge so you can read all about me there.
http://en-gb.facebook.com/oded.sharon

I'm very friendly, and if you write "Game Dev" in your friend request i'll be happy to chat with you about ANYTHING. Game related or not. As long as it is not Politics or sports.

I've been making games since the age of 8. I've learn programming at the age of 6 with LOGO, then Basic, where i programmed a "choose your own adventure" kind of game which i based on a story i took form a local newspaper.
Later on I've made some small games and mods when i was in high school. My first job was to create a MUD for Israeli dial-up users to spend their calling time on when the first ISP's came to Israel
I've done some programming on side project when i served 3 years in the Israeli Air force, like a game where you have to crash some origami cranes into each other in 3D. that was before there were 3D cards.
After the army, i went working as a "regular" programmer, but soon after i came back and worked as a programmer and game designer for Ballerium. I did my BSC in Computer Science and Physics degree while working full time on the MMORTS, actually more than full time, i've had days where i'd work 12 hours straight, after being in the university for 6. then i'd go home, nap and wake up for more Quantum Mechanics classes.
This is some info about Ballerium http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ballerium

When the company closed, i decided to start my own company, for that i went of and enrolled in MBA studies. I've learned some interesting things, and one of the things that i did during my degree was go to Orange County as part of a program for excelling students, in which they taught us important lessons in business, like how to network, or how to make a 60 seconds elevator pitch.
The fun thing was that UC:I , the school this program was at, was ACROSS THE STREET from Blizzard HQ. So one Satuarday afternoon i walked right up to their offices and asked, "Hello, i'm Oded, a game dev from Israel, is this where you made my favorite game World of Warcraft?"
Luckily the guy who i met was the community manager, and he gave me a tour of the facilities. A year later I actually mer Mike Morhaime (CEO, Blizzard) and he was a very nice guy, but that's a whole different story.
One of my goals during my degree was to open up a game company that will be operational.

We've started with a game called Zbang, did a demo for publishers and went publisher hunting. That was my first GDC. I came back home after a bunch of failed meetings, and decided to work on Pizza Morgana. which i won't post about here, but after you've all accepted me to your community, in the proper forum.
I have a lot of stuff i can say about the 2.5 years of development and marketing. It's a struggle, and sometimes i feel like i'm battling windmills, even with my own kin, fellow indy developers. Right now the company is me and 5 other active members, and we're all working from our own homes with our laptops, and sometimes meeting in my living room to work together.
I will tell you, if you ask nicely, and you promise to let me know what i am allowed to talk about and where.

A few years ago, I saw a lack of activities in the local IGDA chapter and today i'm the Israel Chapter Coordinator of the IGDA along with another Guy that's helping me.
We've taking the local community from meetings of 10 or so people to BIG conferences of 200-300 people like the one we are having this Friday. (Am i allowed to link to it?)
http://gameunconf2009.pbwiki.com

I've played a lot of games through the years, and my favorite Genre is Adventure games. I've played all the graphics adventure games that were made until the year 1995 when i was drafter into the army. My favorite game of all time is Monkey Island 2, and i've even founded the website "Buy a car for ron gilbert" a few years ago as a joke
http://car4ron.com
I actually ended up buying him a toy car. I should look up that picture and post it some time. I forget where it's at along with all my thousands of pictures.
I've met a of my game industry idols in person, including Ron Gilbert, TIm Schaffer, Noah Falstien, Dave Grossman, and even people like Shigaru Miamoto. There are many other i've talked to online but havn't met like Al Lowe, which i'm hoping to one day.

I also love playing MMORPGS, i've been on Asheron's call 2, Star wars galaxies, City of Heroes, and of course, I have a level 80 undead mage in WoW.
I also like playing Guitar Hero and Rock Band, and i'm going to start making Rock Band songs for Israeli (and  non Israeli) bands with the opening of the Rock Band network .

I have a lot to say about me (Do i need to add pictures to stuff?):
And I'm an all round geek.
I'm an accordionist.
I'm a private pilot.
A licensed fireworks operator (i do the BIG independence day shows around here)
I'm a ham radio. (4X6NB)
I love hacking stuffs with electronics (I've build an Accordion Hero game controller - google it up)
I was one of the founders of the Israeli Star Trek fan club.
The name Corbomite Games, is an homage to the second star trek episode.
I know a bunch of the star trek actors in person from running conventions.
I met my wife at a sci-fi convention.
I have a 8.5 months old baby, who i already dressed in star fleet uniforms when the new trek movie came out.
I'm dyslecsic... Dislecxis.... Dyslectic.  I sometimes read the OPPOSITE or misread stuff, for example when I read a phrase saying:
"Talk about anything and everything in this board... including commercial games!"
I assumed that i can talk about anything and everything, including posting about my own commercial game.
I wasn't aware that there are other hidden rules that i didn't see.

I don't think this intro is even getting close to saying everything important that there is to know about me.

Oded Sharon,
CEO - Corbomite Games.
