All so true. Watchemen is my favorite masterpiece and the movie will be great.

Alan Moore (and hopefully anyone who has seen "300") would disagree.
300 is a great movie with a story that's even greater than its epic action so I don't know what you are talking about.
You can stay on your high horse and pretend that other people's opinions don't matter and yours is a fact. I'll be in the real world.

Just finished Halting State by Charles Stross. Yay SF for gaming/programming geeks!
I just read that too!
Now I'm onto Roadside Picnic.  It's quite marvellous, I can really see why someone would base a game on this, when I read through the Zone sections I keep thinking about how it could work in a game.  I haven't played STALKER but reading this is making me pretty keen to - if they've even caught 1/10 of this in the game it'll be excellent.  I'm looking forward to avoiding cellars full of witches jelly and stumbling across gravitational anomalies.

The "a song of ice and fire" series.

Was about damn time.

I love how there's no heroes or villains, just people with different goals and intentions.

Eff yeah!!! High fives to you, my friend.
I've only gotten around to the first two, but I'm making my way!

Also, I am now reading Middlesex by Jeffrey Eugenides and Fool by Christopher Moore (<3)

HIGH FIVE

I think Im only on the second one, too.
I dont really know because I THINK they split up each original book in two when they translate it into German (to get the release out faster? To earn more money? I dont know) and I'm on book 4, so maybe it is 2, maybe it isn't. Should probably check right now.

EDIT: Yes, it is actually book 2. So I guess you are further along than me!  Gentleman

Is this the same 'Song of Ice and Fire' that is being adapted into a HBO series?

I would guess so, though I always assumed it was being adapted to an HBO series in the same way as The Diamond Age is being adapted to a Sci-Fi mini-series and Morgan Freeman is making a Rendezvous With Rama movie.

So I dunno if this really counts, maybe I should go start a graphic novel thread, but I just read the entirety of 'Y - The Last Man' in three sittings and it was incredible.

I picked up an issue here and there in its original run and was impressed but nowhere near committed enough to get through the whole thing, but now that I have I feel like a changed man.

I don't actually have any real discussion or debates to have about the plot or themes discussed, I just want to say that I was honestly crying my eyes out reading the last epilogue issue, and if you haven't read it yet, you really should, its easily on of the best new comics of the past 10 years.

Yeah, that's what Y The Last Man does. I read it in something less than a week, and I spent the next hour crying. It's the only thing that did that.

I just started reading Q & A by Vikas Swarup, the book that Slumdog Millionaire is based on. It's really good so far.

Well, I finally finished Neuromancer last night, and it was incredible!  Kiss  So it's either on to Count Zero, a small break from Gibson; haven't decided yet.
