Hey all

I'm still treading careful and slowly around pixel art, and every now and then I'm going to ask for opinions.

Is this readable? Good? Do you have any criticism? Notice that this isn't a full scene, there is no ground or anything, but there are foreground and background objects.

After the first image failed among my friends I changed a little bit the color scheme and also added another depth. I don't think it's much different though.

If this remains difficult to read I'm going to toss the whole floating mountains idea and just stick with clouds.

I like the floating mountains. You might want to make their contrast even a little less within their element and vs the foreground elements but I think it looks quite cool.

Thanks Devr0s Smiley
I honestly quite like the way they look and was surprised no one could tell what they were seeing. But their opinion is more reliable than mine, I've been looking at these for a while now.

Without the ground in view there's no repetition. How can I tell what I'm looking at without any reference point in the picture?

The background is static and the implied scale isn't a guarantee.

Lighting on the trees is too hard, they look like plastic.

You've got some stray pixels that I don't think are doing the work any favors. Top left of the leftmost tree, under the rightmost floating... thing. Not horrendous, just... not beneficial.

It's unclear what's going on on the rightmost landmasses. Are those two floating mountains layered on top of each other?

Yeah, they might sell the idea better in context, with parallax etc. But it's discarded already Smiley
