I can't disobey a direct order, unfortunately, so you'll all have to be subjected to this game come Sept. 13th!

Zombies... and a cottage!

It's actually the artist's game idea and I've appropriated it somewhat. Also the artist hasn't provided any art yet and may not do so at all, we'll have to see.

You're in a cottage and you have to keep the doom from coming in by barricading the exits and defending them. At the moment I'm thinking you have a choice - break the furniture up, in which case you can use the planks to fortify the exits, and the furniture contains ammo, or move the furniture for a proper blockade, but this sacrifices the ammo inside as once the undead get through you'll have to kill 'em before you can get to that ammo.

Might work, it might not.

Ask Xion for help, if your artist can't finish.  You MUST enter the competition.
Yeah, man, ask me for help if your 'tist cain't finnish. (actually I just started school this past week and I'm still getting my timeline back together, so it may be a minute before I'm gathered enough to be punctual.) But still. I wanna do something. I'm boooored. Sad

Cool beans, I'll let you know if I get in a fix. Thanks Smiley

Status of the game is that currently I have a man wandering around able to shoot at walls and through windows. Next up is zombies and doors. Then game stuff like timing and high scores. Then furniture and barricading. Then cut scenes. And sound I guess.

This game has the best Title ever. Also, I hope the cutscenes contain some humour, Day of the tentacle style.

Don't even think about changing the artwork. Think of all the deeper meaning and social commentary frustrated players will experience as they fail to distinguish their own avatar from the zombie hoardes!

Either I have an inescapably dirty mind, or those zombies are, in fact, naked.

FLEE IN TERROR AS AN UNSTOPPABLE ARMY
OF NIGHTMARISH GHOULS
SHUFFLES INEXORABLY TOWARDS YOUR DOOM!

This is 500 zombies (of which you can probably see 100-150 here). You can see the frame rate is suffering. There probably won't be this many zombies in the final game, but I wanted to see what it'd be like Smiley It's actually pretty disconcerting watching them approach. What I want is for the player to be so busy with some room on the other side of the house that when he comes round to one of the other rooms and looks out the window he'll get a proper fright.

oh yeah. my artist did crap out on me but I'm having a lot of fun doing the art myself so far. if I still need help I'll holler Smiley

Very nice concept, and the execution fits the theme perfectly in my opinion.

The secret to REALLY high scores is the hilariously unbalanced PAX bonus, but you'll have to discover how to get that yourselves Smiley

"CLR error: 8004005.
The program will now terminate"

I installed it to program files twice.

I was really looking foward to playing it but...

1. Setup? I don't really like setup files. A zipped folder with an EXE would be optimal, in my opinion. School computers don't like people installing things on them.

So I went home and downloaded it (that's how eager I was to play it..) and installed it. During installation

2. It asked me to download .NET 2. So I downloaded .NET 2.

Then

3. it said I don't have Windows Installer.

So I can't play it.  Angry pity, 'cos it looks really neat.
