Cute concept, I like the switch to playing the chicken. Can you kill everyone who makes a bad pun?

It's my intention that everyone who makes puns in the game is subject to your rage and unable to stop you.

Aerial Attacks!

Because I can.

Setting up some groundwork tonight for more interesting combat mechanics. If we're going to have any manner of limited chicken-flapping, we'll certainly want Bawkins to be able to hit his target. Also reworked the way the attack hitbox functions so the strike only happens in the extended frames instead of the duration of the swing animation. Feels less clunky now.

That's not really up to me :D

Game isn't anywhere close to finished content wise. You think people... would pay for it? :D

I know I would. It looks like a funny version of Transistor.

Definitely going to follow this project and play the shit out the demo

Hint for the current demo: Avoid the pyramid. I'm using it to debug some stuff and you can't leave once you enter lol

This must have been where I dropped to the depths of hell, unknowing how to escape.  SO I hit escape, and it quit. Noooooooo.  I wanted to go back to the world map.  Then I restarted and mashed my face on the keyboard trying to figure out if you had a debug shortcut.

Hey!

I really like what you've got in the demo so far. Really nice art in there!

Thanks! I've redone the art several times, as I'm new at this, and I'm sure I'll redo it several more times before I'm done.

Yeah I've been falling into that trap a lot recently. I should probably have just made the whole game with boxes first (but I like to make the pretty things)

I can see the dustclouds scale down to sub-pixel size WTF

(don't mind me, it's a pet peeve of mine)

Place holder effect because I haven't actually drawn any dustcloud sprites yet.

Have a gif...

There are so many things I enjoy about this project.

Although, right now my favorite may be how bad-ass that logo is.

Seriously though, this is awesome. Keep it up.

Figures, I hadn't spotted errors like it before so it was a surprise

Thanks for the gif. I can hear the swishing sound, even though it wouldn't make one underwater!

Real pleasing work here brother. Keep it up.  Love the world map, lends scale without seeming to be a shit tonne of work.

I'd love to see bubbles from the sword when chicken swooshes it underwater.  Like a red hot steel poker being swung through cold water.  Would lend itself to some lovely bubbly sound fx too!

AIR COMBOS?

Physics are fun.

Stage one of getting things to mesh up perfectly for air combos is complete. The next step will be to add some effects and timed freezes to emphasize the sheer awesomeness of your air combo. Considering a counter, but that's not really the type of game ChickenSword is.....

ALL THE WEATHERS!

In Soviet Russia, inside rains you!

Funny how we always start with rain, even thought ChickenSword takes place in an arid climate. Weather will have an impact on gameplay in the respect that much of it will affect modifiers like friction and obscure vision (sandstorms etc). It all starts with seeing how many particles I can fit on a screen before my computer melts (the vlamb effect)

Tonight I hope to have the basics done (water, wind, sand, etc) so I can FINALLY get back to making content for demos for you guys.
